Short bio on me

N. L. Banks

I have designed many knit, crochet, machine knit and sewing patterns over the years. I've been crocheting over 45 years, teaching myself at age nineteen, first with thread, and then much later, yarn. Back then I had not learned to read the crochet patterns, so I took the stitches I had learned and crocheted around things to make them look pretty, like things for my bedroom. I still have one of them, it's an old hair spray can cover, with double crochets and popcorns stitches made with thread. I crocheted lots of Barbie doll clothes for my kids, but didn't think to write them down back then. In the past years, I've sold both knitted and crocheted designs, and have lots of free knitting and crochet patterns on my list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Atmyhouse.

Here's a link to one of my favorite crocheted patterns:

I have been knitting for over 60 years, I learned when my Mom taught me when I was about four years old and I still love the craft today. I had not learned to read the knit patterns then either, and the first thing I remember knitting was a shawl for my mom. Before that it was afghan squares in grade school. The first items I've sold were sweaters designed and knitted on my knitting machine back in the early 1980's. I just started back into machine knitting and have to relearn everything, but did find a knitting machine magazine; I do reviews for them, free of charge. http://www.countryknittingofmaine.com/_sgt/f10000.htm.

The things I like to knit and design most are ski hats, you can see most of them here http://ninasatmyhouse.blogspot.com/search/label/Ski%20Hats, none are free, but two of them will be on my knitting list at yahoo. The others I have not decided what I want to do with them at this time.

I also like to knit scarves, below are two free patterns, just follow the links.

I am retired now, and can play with my toys anytime I want. After all these years, I still like to knit, crochet, and sew.

I would like to thank Christine Weiher at http://www.allfreecrochet.com for writing me and offering me the chance to put my designs on All Free Crochet.
