Materials:

3.5oz dk green, 1 oz lt green, small amount black. (I used Red Heart Sport weight)

Crochet hook size H

This pattern is made from the top down, and fits a 25 oz dish detergent bottle. For a smaller bottle simply decrease number of rows.

Head: With dk brown, ch 20, sl st to beg ch.

Row 1: ch 2 *dc in next 5 ch, 2 dc in next ch* Repeat from * to * 3 x's ending dc in next 2 ch, sl st to ch 2.

Row 2: ch 2 * dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc* repeat form * to * 6 x's sl st to ch 2.

Row 3 – 5: ch 2 dc in ea dc around, sl st to ch 2.

Row 6: ch 2*dc in next 5 dc, dc dec* repeat from * to * 4 x's ending dc in next 3 dc, sl st to ch 2.

Torso and body:

Row 7: ch 2 *dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, * repeat from * to * 4 x's ending dc in next 3 dc, sl st to ch 2.

Row 8-17: repeat row 3

Nose: Ch 8; Dc in third ch from hook and in ea ch across, ch 3 turn, dc in ea dc across, ch 1, work 10 dc in 4th dc from hook, sl st to end. Ch 1 turn, sls lt in ea dc across and down side. Finish off. Make 2. on top one, with white, work sl st in front loop only of ea st around long and curved edges. Sew in place making a curve on third an d 4th rows.

Eyes: (make 2)

With black, Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st to first sc finish off, leaving 1 inch tail at both ends. Using tails tie to post of dc on 2nd row of head.

Arms:

With dk green, ch 15, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea ch across. Finish off. Twist a few times and stitch ends to side of torso.

Tail: Ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in ea ch across, *ch 1 turn, sc in ea sc across , sc dec at,  end,* rep from * to * until one sc on hook,   (Ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in ea ch across, *ch 1 turn, sc in ea sc across , sc dec at end, sl st to first “spike'), rep fro ( to ) 3 x's. Don't worry if piece is not all on one side. At end, sl st to top of back head, ch 1 turn and work {sc in ea stitch to corner of first spike, 3 sc in top, sc down side,. Turning so next 'spike is right side up work long sc into dc of body}, rep form {to} joining with sl st to bottom. Weave in ends.

Multiple of 3 sts        using 2 colors 

 Slip stitches with yarn in back.

For sample  cast on 21 stitches ( 3 x 7 = 21)


Row 1: With A, Knit

Row 2: with a, knit

Row 3: With B, K2, Sl 1

Row 4:  With B, P2, Sl 1

Repeat rows 1 to 4

 

Repeat these 4 rows for the pattern or until desired length

April 2023 Pattern of the Month Machine Knit

Heart and Arrow Scarf

Learn to use the Russel Levers on the Sk 700. by knitting this easy to knit Heart and Arrow scarf. The scarf is 4 inches wide and 34 inches long from the tip of the heart to the tip of the arrow. This pattern is written for beginners.

Materials needed

Silver Reed Card #4

3/11 Bright Pink yarn

3/11 Red, small amount.

1. With waste yarn, cast on 6 stitches,

   3 – 0- 3. Knit 11 rows.

2. COL. Using ravel cord, knit 1 row to the right.

3. Pull all 6 needles to “d” position and with main yarn, e-wrap these 6 stitches. Knit 1 row to the left.

4. COL, Ten 8, RC 0. Insert Silver reed card #4 into machine. Set in order 1 as per your manual. See below. Knit to the right. 

 


5. Set machine as in order number 2 as per your manual, see above.

6. Ten 8, Upper Ten 5. RC 0 knit 2 rows.

7. Pull 1 needle on carriage side to d, and e-wrap it. Knit 1 row.  Repeat this row until you have 41 stitches in work. Remember to add weights as you need them.  NOTE: when you e-wrap the stitch, move yarn under the brushes.  

8. Write pattern row here: ________(Mine 39). Write RC here: ____________ (Mine 39)

9. Put all stitches left of 0 and 2 stitches right of 0 out of work, or D position. You will have

19 working needles.

10. Put Russel levers to I,

Picture below shows the russel levers in the II position. Move them to I position.

 


11. Ten 8 RC 39, knit 2 rows.

12. Move both first and last stitch to the next working needle. Leave needles out of work.

You now have 17 working Stitches.

NOTE: watch the needles in “D” position to make sure they stay in non working position.

13. Repeat 12 until you have 4 stitches left.

14. RC 57, bind off remaining 4 stitches.

15. COR. Reset RC and pattern row to what you wrote down in 8.

16. Reset Russel levers to II.

17. Put stitches in hold or D back to B. With main yarn, starting on right side, bind of 4 stitches (the 2 right and left of 0). You will have 18 stitches in work. Needles 20 to 3 left of 0.

18. Ten 8, knit 2 rows.

19. Repeat 12 until you have 4 stitches left. Then bind off these 4 stitches.

20. Worm edging:  With wrong side facing you, re-hang 2 stitches on needles, * knit 6 rows, hang next 2 stitches on these two needles, repeat from * all the way around heart.

21. With tuck side facing you, center heart on 26 needles. (13 – 0 – 13).   Hang weights on the worm edging so that the brushes will not hang up on them. Ten 10. With main and carriage on the right, knit slowly across to the left.

22. Ten 8, RC 0. Insert Card #4 into machine, set machine to order 1 per your manual,  see #4 above, slowly knit one row to the right.

23. Ten. 8, RC 1. Set machine in order 2 as

 per your manual, see #4 above. Knit 27 rows.

24. Note RC here   _________  mine was 27,

      Note Patt. row here ______ mine was 27.

 

25. Put all needles left of 0 on hold, (you now  have 13 working needles to the right of 0.) Put Russel levers to I, see #10 above.

26. COR. Ten 8, RC 27, Pattern row 27, knit 61 rows.  Remember to move the weights up as you knit. Watch the non working needles so that they stay out of work.

27. COR. Brake yarn, reset set RC to 27, and Pattern row card to 27. Put all needles left of 0 to working position. Put all needles right of 0 to hold.

28. RC 27, Ten 8, Pattern row 27, knit 61 rows.

29. Brake yarn, set Russel levers to II, (see # 10 above.). Bring all needles to working position,

30. Ten 8 RC 0 knit to 130 rows.

31. Ten 7.2 RC 130, knit 325 rows.

32. Ten 7. RC 0. Remove card from machine, and set machine to plain knit. Change to Red yarn.

 


33. RC 0, Ten 7. Knit 2 rows.

 Move both end stitches to next working needle.

34. Repeat #33 until you have 2 stitches left.   Bind off.

35. With heart on the right and with wrong side facing you, re-hang scarf on 2 needles just to the left of the heart behind the worm edging.  * knit 6 rows, hang next 2 stitches on these two needles, repeat from * all the way scarf including the arrow, work all the way to the edge of heart. Weave in all yarn ends. Block and stream lightly.

New living room rug

 I had made a living room rug to fix it front of the sofa about 35 years ago, and it was worn out, so I made a new one, using jelly rolls, turned out I think very nice.
