Baby Bootees No.2189 from Bear Brand 

Baby Book# 339 from 1951

Infants

MATERIALS Bear Brand Winfant, 1 skein.

"Boye" Steel Hook, Size 2.

GAUGE: 8 se = 1 In, 7 clusters = 2 inches.

INSTEP AND TOP-Ch 2, work 10 Sc in first st of ch; 

join with slip st, 

Round 2-Cluster round-wrong side~Ch 2, turn; yo, draw bp a loop in first Sc, yo and through 2 loops on hook, * yo, draw up a loop in same st, yo,  through 2 loops; repeat from * twice, yo, through  all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 to fasten (a cluster St),  work 1 cluster in each of the next 9 Sc; 10 clusters;  join with slip st in top of ch 20 sts.

Note: Clusters are worked on wrong side.

Round 3-right side Ch 1, turn, 1 Sc in first st, * 2  sc in next st, 1 sc in next st; repeat from * 8 times, 2 Sc in last st; 30 Sc. Do not turn, continue around.

Next round~ *1 Sc in each of 7 sts, 3 dc in next st, 1 Sc in each of 6 sts, 3 dc in next st; repeat from * once, slip st in next st; 38 sts. Fasten off.

Baby Bootees 2 @ 2017 N. L. Banks

0 to 3 months

 Materials:

Red Heart Sport Weight Yarn in 810 Yale Blue

size 5 knitting needles 46 inches of ½ ribbon, cut in half. 2 stitch holders    row counter

 Cast on 32 stitches

Row 1: *p 2, k 1, p 1, k 1, * end p 2.

Row 2: k 2, * p 3, k 2, *

Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 1 inch, ending with row 1.

 Eyelet row: K1, yo, k 2 tog repeat across row, end k 2.

 Now Start pattern

Row 1: P 2, * yon, K 2 tog. through the back loops, K 1, P 2 *,

Row 2: K 2, * yon, K 2 tog. through the back loops, P 1, K 2 *.

Work  rows 1 and 2 three times, total 6 rows.

Instep: p first 10 stitches in pattern , place these 10 stitches on holder, work in pattern across row, turn.  k first 10 stitches, place these 10 stitches on holder, and work in pattern across row.  Now you will be working on the center 12 stitches, keeping in pattern.  

 

Work pattern rows 1 and 2 on center 12, for 13 rows ending with row 2 row. Cut yarn, turn.

Foot:  pick and k 10 stitches from holder, pick up and k 10 stitches from  from side of instep, knit center 12 stitches,  pick up and k 10 on side of instep, and knit 10 from last holder.  ( 52 stitches ).

Knit for 7 rows

Decease row:

Row 1: k 1, k 2 tog, k20, k2 tog, k 1,  k 2 tog, k to last 3 stitches,  k 2 tog., k 1.

Row 2:  k1, k 2 tog., k 17, k 2 tog, 4 x,  K to last 3 stitches k 2 tog., k 1.

Bind off, sew seams, run ribbon thru eyelet row.

Size 5 knitting needles

Red Heart Sport Weight yarn in 810 Yale Blue

2 pieces of ribbon about 15 inches long

 Cast on  27 stitches



Row 1: *p 2, k 1, p 1, k 1, * end p 2.


Row 2: k 2, * p 3, k 2, *


Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 1 inches ( 5 rows total) ending with row 1,

Beading row:

K1, yo, K2 tog., across row.

Now change to pattern:

Row 1: P 2, * yon, K 2 tog. through the back loops, K 1, P 2 *,

Row 2: K 2, * yon, K 2 tog. through the back loops, P 1, K 2 *.

 

Repeat pattern rows 1 and 2 for 4  inches from beginning, ending with row 2.

  K 2 tog, k 1, repeat across row.

 Cut 10 inch piece of yarn and run thru stitches, pulling up tight, then weave side stitches together.  Make 2, weave ribbon in and out the beading row on mittens.

size 0 to 3 months

Materials:

Red Heart Sport Weight Yarn 810 Yale Blue    #5 needles

about 40 inches of ½ wide ribbon.     row counter

 

Cast on 77 stitches

Row 1: *p 2, k 1, p 1, k 1, * end p 2.

Row 2: k 2, * p 3, k 2, *

Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 1 inch, ending with row 2.

Now change to pattern:

Row 1: P 2, * yon, K 2 tog. through the back loops, K 1, P 2 *,

Row 2: K 2, * yon, K 2 tog. through the back loops, P 1, K 2 *.

 Repeat rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 4 ½  from beginning of ribbing.

 Bind off  25 at beginning of next 2 rows. Keep remaining 27 stitches in pattern until piece measures 8 ½ inches from beginning of ribbing.

 

Bind off, sew side seam A to A and B to B together as shown below.

With wrong side facing you, pick up and purl 70 stitches long bottom of hat

 Eyelet row: K 2, yo, k 2 tog, across row, end with k 2.

Next row: Purl. Bind off all stitches. Weave the ribbon between the eyelets of the last row.
