2018 Stitch of the Month Knit
Cable This pattern is worked over
10 stitches.
For this cable stitch I used it on
a background of 2 purl stitches on each side, for a total of 10 stitches and
held the cable needle in front (left), the one on the right shows a cable
stitch but with the cable needle held at the back like I did for the beginner's
cabled scarf (http://ninasatmyhouse.blogspot.com/2015/09/beginners-cabled-scarf-pattern-update.html)
Row 1: k2, p 6, kv 2
Row 2: p 2, k 6, p 2
Row 3: k 2, p 6, k 2
Row 4: p 2, k 6, p 2
Row 5: k 2, p 6, k 2
Row 6: p 2, slip 3 stitches
to the cable needle and hold at front of work, K 3, then knit the 3 stitches
from the cable needle, p 2
Repeat rows 1 to 6 for length of
cable

Row 2: K 2, sm, purl to next marker, sm, k 2
Row 3: k 2, sm k 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 1, * yo, slip 1, k 2 tog, psso, yo, k 1, repeat from * to 3 stitches before next marker, yo, slip 1, k 1, psso, k 1, sm, k 2.
Row 4: K 2, sm, purl to next marker, sm, k 2
Repeat rows 2 to 4 two times, then rows 1 to 3 once.
Knit 5 rows, remove markers on 4th row, dec down to 34 stitches on 5th row.
Right side should be facing you, in not knit one more row.

MERCERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 3 balls of No.12-A Blue Sparkle and
2 balls each of No. 1 white and No. 46-.Mid Rose.
Milwards
Steel Crochet Hook No. O. (I would use a baby yarn )
GAUGE:
6 sts make 1 inch; 6 pattern rnds makes 1 1/4 inches; 6 sc rnds make 1 inch.
BASE
(Make 2) ... Starting at center with Blue Sparkle, make a chain to measure 7 ½
inches.
1st
rnd: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch;
,working along opposite side of starting chain, make sc in each ch across. Join
with sl st to first sc.
2nd
rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st. sc in each sc around, increasing
3 sc evenly on each end-to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc, . Join.
Repeat
2nd rnd until piece measures 10 inches long. Break off.
SIDE
PIECE ... Starting at bottom
with Blue Sparkle, make a chain 24 inches long. having number of chains
divisible by 4. Join with a sl st.
1st
rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in next 2 ch, , * tr in next
ch, sc in next 3 ch. Repeat from * around. Join to first sc.
2nd
rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join and break off.
3rd
rnd: Attach Mid Rose to same place as sl st, sc in same place, * tr in next sc,
sc in next sc, make a dc around the tr 2 rnds below (raised dc made), skip next
sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join.
4th
rnd: Repeat 2nd rnd.
5th
rnd: Attach white to same place as last joining. sc in same place, * make
a raised dc. skip next sc, sc in next sc. tr in next sc. sc in next sc. Repeat
from * around. Join.
6th
rnd: Repeat 2nd rnd.
7th
and 8th rnds: Attach Blue Sparkle and repeat 3th and 4th rnds.
Continue
working in pattern, making raised dc's over tr's 2 rnds below, thus staggering
position of raised dc's, until piece measures 7\12 inches. Join and break off,
BEADING:
1st rnd: Attach next alternate
color to same place as last joining, ch 5, * skip 1 sc, tr in next sc,
ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join to 4th ch of ch-5. Do not break off.
2nd
rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as last joining, sc in each ch 1 and each
tr around. Join and break off.
TOP
PIECE ... Attach next alternate color, sc in same place. sc in next 2
sc, * tr in next sc, sc in next 3 sc. Repeat from" around. Join. Repeat
2nd rnd of side piece. Continue working in pattern, alternating colors until
piece measures 9 1/4 inches in all. Join and break off.
DRAWSTRING ...
Cut 5 strands of each color, each 48 inches long. Make a braid, lace through
sps and tie ends securely. leaving 1 inch for tassel. Make another braid and
lace through from opposite side.
