A Mile a Minute Stitch

Multiples of 4 + 1

For Sample ch 21  ( 4 x 5 = 20 + 1 = 21)

                          

Foundation Row: Work 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch to end. Ch 2, turn.

Row 1: 1 dc in back loop each of the first 2 hdc, * ch 2, skip 2 hdc, 1 dc in back loop of each of next 2 hdc; rep from *, ending 1 dc in back loop of last 2 hdc, 1 dc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn.

Row 2: Skip first dc, 1 hdc in next 2 dc, *2 hdc under ch-2, 1 hdc in each of next 2 dc; rep from *  ending with 1 hdc in next 2 dc, 1 hdc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for length desired.

Rows 2: k 4, sm, k 3, * P 4, k 3, p1, k 3 *. sm, k 5

Row 3: k 5, sm, * P 3, with yarn in back, sl 1, P 3, k 1, sl 1, k 1, psso, yo, k1* end last repeat with p 3, k 4.

Row 4: k 4, sm, k 3, * P 4, k 3, p1, k 3 *. sm, k 5

Repeat rows 1 to 4  three times total.

Knit 5 rows.

Remove markers on last  row.

Row 1:  *yo, k2 tog, repeat from *  to end of row

Row 2, 3, 4, : purl

Repeat rows 1 to 4 until desired length.

Set up row: k 2, place marker, knit to last 2 stitches, place marker, k 2.

Row 1: k 2, sm, p2, * yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k1, sl 1,k 1, psso, yo, p 2.* Repeat from *  to * across row to next marker, sm, k 2.

Row 2:k 2, sm  *k 2, p 5,*, end last repeat with k2.  sm, k 2,

Row 3: k 2, sm, p 2, * k 1, yo, sl 1, k 2 tog, psso, yo, k 1, p 2 * repeat from * to * across row to next marker, sm, k 2.

Row 4: k 2, sm, *k 2, p 5,*, repeat from * to * across row ending last repeat with k2. sm,
k 2.

Repeat rows 1 to 4  three times total.

Knit 5 rows plain.

On next row, k 4, place marker, knit across to last 5 stitches, place marker, k 5. This sets you up for the next lace stitch.

Row 2: K 4, sm, purl across to last 3 stitches, sm, k 3.

Row 3: Knit 

Row 4:  knit  

Repeat rows 1 to 4 four times total. 

Knit 5 rows, remove markers on last row.
