MATERIALS: J. & P. COATS OR CLARK'S BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Size 30: Small Ball: ]. & P. COATS-7 balls of white or ecru or aby other color or CLARK'S  O N T 11 balls of white or ecru or 13 balls of any color. Steel Crochet hook size 10     OR Size 10 crochet thread about 2 or 3 balls and a crochet hook size 7.  Sorry I don't remember how many balls I used.

 

Centerpiece measures 23 inches square (from point to point)

 

Starting at center. ch 8. Join.

1st rnd: Ch 3. in ring make dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made); * ch 3; in ring make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (another shell made). Repeat from * 2 more times; ch 3. sl st in top of starting chain.

 

2nd rnd: Sl st in next dc and in sp. ch 3 and complete shell as before (shell made over shell), * ch 1, in next ch-3 sp make 2 dc. ch 3 and 2 dc (corner shell made), ch 1. shell over next shell. Repeat from * around. Join.

 

3rd rnd: * Shell over shell. ch 3. corner shell over corner shell, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join.

 

4th rnd:  Make shell over shell and ch 4 alternately around. working corner shells as before. Join.

 

5th rnd: Same as last rnd. making ch 6 (instead of ch-4) between shells. Join.

 

6th rnd: " Shell over shell, eh 6, in next shell make shell. eh 3 and shell. eh 6. Repeat from " around. rain.

 

7th rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 6,  shell in next ch-2 sp. ch 2, corner shell in next sp. ch 2. shell in next sp,  ch 6. Repeat from * around. Join.

 

8th rnd: * Shell over shell. ch 6. shell over shell. ch 2. shell in next sp. ch 2. corner shell over corner shell, ch 2. shell in next sp, ch 2. shell over shell. ch 6. Repeat from * around. Join.

 

9th rnd: * Shell over shell. ch 6, (shell over shell, ch 3) twice; corner shell over corner shell, (ch 3, shell over shell) twice; ch 6. Repeat from * around. Join.

 

10th and 11th rnds: Same as last rnd, making ch 4 for 10th rnd and ch 5 for 11th rnd between 5 corner shells. Join.

14th rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 6, dc in sp of next shell. (ch 1, tr in next tr) 20 times; ch 1, shell over shell, (ch 1, tr in next tr) 20 times; ch 1, dc in sp of next shell, ch 6. Repeat from *  around. Join.

 

15th rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 5, sc in next ch-1 sp between tr's, (ch 3.  sc in next sp) 18 times; ch 1,shell over shell, ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp between tr's, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 18 times; e=ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join.

20th rnd: Ch 3, dc in sp of shell, in same sp make ch 2, 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc;

FIRST PINEAPPLE:   Sl st across to sp of 2nd shell and work points as follows:

 

1st row: Shell over shell, ch 4, work across loops of pineapple, ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn; Repeat last row until 1 loop remains on pineapple. Ch 5, turn.

 

Next row: Shell over shell, tr in loop, shell over next shell, ch 5, turn, sc in sp of last shell made. Break off. Attach thread to sp of shell on next pineapple and complete as before.  Work all pineapples to correspond.

 

EDGING . 1st rnd: Attach thread to ch-l sp at base of points, sc in same sp, (ch 2, shell in next ch-5 loop) 13 times; ch 2, sc in next ch-l sp (between shells). ch 2, shell in next ch-5 loop of next point and continue thus around. Join last ch-2 to 1st sc.

 

2nd rnd: Sl st to sp of next shell, ch 6, * (sc in next ch-2 sp between shells, ch 3, in sp of next shell make dc, ch 5, sc in dc-picot-and dc; ch 3) 11 times; sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, dc in sp of next shell, picot, dc in sp of next shell, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

With cream, ch 6 to form ring.

Rd. 1  Ch 4, (1DC, ch 1 in ring,) 12 times.  Slip stitch to 3nd ch of beginning ch 4. (13 chain ones spaces.)

Rd 2  Ch 3, FPDC around base of THIS ch3, * 1dc in ch 1 sp, FPDC around post of next dc*, repeat from * to * around. End slip stitch to beg. Ch 3. (13 post stitch & 13 dc. Beg chain 3 counts as one dc.)

Rd 3 Ch 3, * FPDC around post next post, 2 dc in next dc,*  (You'll have 2 dc between each post stitch, each round you will add 1 more dc). Repeat from * to * around. End, post stitch around last post stitch, 1 dc around next dc, slip stitch to top of beg ch 3. (13 posts & 26 dc.Beg chain 3 counts as one dc.)

Rd 4  Ch 3, * FPDC first post, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc,*  rep from * to * ard. End FPDC around next post stitch, 2 dc  in next dc, slip stitch to top of beg ch 3. (13 posts & 39 dc Beg chain 3 counts as one dc )

1 ball Lily's Sugar N Cream Cotton Yarn in Country Stripes

Cast  on 35

Seeding rows 1 to 5: K 1, P 1, K1, P1 across row.

Row 1:  * K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1 (place marker), k 5, (place marker) *, repeat from
     * to * across row, end (place marker) K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1.   Slip markers as you come to them.

Row 2 & 4 K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1,  * p 5,  K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1 *, repeat from * to * across row, end K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1.

Row 3:   * K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1 , (slip next stitch to right hand needle,) 2x, insert left hand needle into the back loops of the two slipped stitches and move to the left needle, then k 2 tog, yo, k 1, yo, sl 1, k 1, psso*, repeat from * to * across row, end K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1.

Row 1:  right side–Work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each remaining ch;

Row 2: Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in next 2 dc, * ch 2, skip next 2 dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc; repeat from * across row, end with ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next 2 dc, 1 dc in top of turning chain.

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in next 2 dc, * 2 dc in next ch-2 space, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc; repeat from * across row, end 1 dc in next 2 dc, 1 dc in top of turning chain.

Repeat rows 2 and 3  7 times total for both rows, then row 3 once more. Fasten off, weave in the threads.

CLARK'S BIG BALL MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. B.34, Size 30: 8 balls of No.9 Yellow; or

& P. COATS BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. A.104, Size 30: 8 balls of No. 9 Yellow; or

CLARK'S O.N.T. BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. B.4, Size 30: 12 balls of No.9 Yellow.

Milwards Steel Crochet hook No. 10.

Runner measures 14 x 39 inches;        Night Table Doily measures 14 inches square.

GAUGE: Each motif measures 2 1/4  inches square.

RUNNER-

First Motif .. Starting at center, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd: Ch 4, 8 tr in ring, (ch 5, 9 tr in ring) 3 times; ch 5. Join with sl st to top of ch·4.

2nd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * (ch 3, skip next tr, sc in next tr) 4 times; ch 3, in next sp make 2 dc, ch 3 and 2 dc; eh 3, sc in next tr. Repeat from * around. join.

3rd rnd: sl st in next loop, sc in same loop, * (ch 3, sc in next loop) 3 times; ch 7, skip next sp, in next sp make 2 dc, Ch 5 and 2 dc; ch 7, skip next sp, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join.

Make 5 rows of 16 motifs, joining adjacent sides as Second Motif was joined to First Motif (where 4 corners meet, join 3rd and 4th corners to joining of previous 2 corners).

EDGING ...

1st rnd: Attach thread to any corner loop, 10 sc in same loop, * sc in next 3 dc, 10 sc in next sp, sc in next loop, 10 sc in next sp, sc in next 3 dc, 3 sc in each of next 2 loops. Repeat from * around, making 10 sc in each corner loop. Join.

 

2nd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, (ch 5, sc in next sc) 9 times; * ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, working corners as before. Join.

 

3rd rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join.

Granny Dishcloth -
 Materials needed, small amounts of four contrasting colors of worsted weight cotton yarn such as Sugar'N Cream, an H hook and a yarn needle to tuck in ends. Finished Granny Dishcloth measures 8 1/2"square. 



 Directions: With Color A, ch 5, join with sl st to form ring. Rnd One - Ch 5, [work 3 dc in ring, ch 2] three times; work 2 dc in ring and join round with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5 (do not turn work at any time). 

 Rnd Two -Sl st into next ch, ch 5, work 3 dc in same space, [ch 2, in next ch space work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] three times; ch 2, work 2 dc in next corner space and join rnd with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5; end off. 

 Rnd Three - Attach Color B with a sl st in any corner ch space, ch 5, work 3 dc in same space, [ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch 2 space, ch 2, in next corner space work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] three times; ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch 2 space, ch 2; work 2 dc in next corner space and join rnd with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5.

 Rnd Five - Attach Color C with a sl st in any corner ch space, ch 5, work 3 dc in same space, [ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch space, dc in each dc across (in this row dc in each dc means the next two dc, in the next row this same direction will mean the next 6 dc and so on), work 2 dc in next ch sp, ch 2, in next corner space work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] 3 times; ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch sp, dc in each dc across, work 2 dc in next ch sp, ch 2; in next corner sp work 2 dc and join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5. 

 Rnds Six and Seven - Repeat Rnd Five, changing colors at the end of Rnd Six to Color D, do not end off. 

 Edging - Continuing with same color, sl st in next ch, ch 1, sc in same corner sp, ch 2; *[work sc decrease over next two dc (sc decrease is worked by inserting hook in next st or space and drawing up a loop, insert hook into next st or space and draw up another loop, YO and take off all three loops on hook), ch 2; sc decrease over next dc and ch 2 space, ch 2; work sc decrease in same sp and next dc, ch 2 ; [work sc dec over next two dc, ch 2] across row then dec over last dc and next sp, ch 2; dec in same sp and next dc, ch 2; dec over next two dc, ch 2; [sc in corner sp, ch 2] twice; repeat from * around, ending with sc in last corner space, ch 2 andjoin rnd with sl st in beg sc; end off.  Row 9: k1, p1, k1, purl 31, k1, p1, k1.
