Oven Beef Stew
2# lean beef 3 tablespoons fat
4 T flour salt, pepper, paprika
2 bay leaves 2 cups hot water
6 whole carrots 4 med potatoes
1 cup green peas
1 8 oz. can tomatoe sauce
cut up meat, shake in paper bag with seasonings and flour, heat fat and brown meat in roaster. Mix tomatoe sauce, and water, add to meat, cover, boke in oven at 325 for 1 and 1/2 hours. uncover, add veggies, bake 1 hour more, or until done. Thicken for gravy.
This again is from the 1940 or early 1950's
