Multiple of 2 ch sts

For sample ch 20 ( 2 x 10 = 20)

Row 1:  wrong side–Work 1 dc in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 dc in next ch; repeat from *  repeat from * to * across row.

Note   Draw up all loops of star st to same height as first loop.

Row 2: Star St Row  Ch 3, turn, draw up a loop in 2nd ch from hook, then drawing up each loop to same height as first loop, draw up a loop in next ch, draw up a loop in ch-1 space, draw up a loop in next dc, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 for "eye" of star–1 star made, * draw up a loop in eye of star just made, draw up 1 loop only in front and back loops of last loop on same star st, draw up a loop in ch-1 space, draw up a loop in next dc, yo and through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1; repeat from *   across row,  working last repeat until 3 loops on hook, draw up a loop in last space, skip 1 st of ch, draw up a loop in next ch, yo and through all 5 loops, ch 1; 

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in eye of 2nd star, * ch 1, 1 dc in eye of next star; repeat from *  across row,  ch 1, 1 dc in top of last star;  ch 1, 1 dc in last loop of star on row below.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until desired length.  Fasten off

For sample cast on 26 (10 x 2 = 20 + 6 = 26)

Rows 1 and 2: Knit.

Row 3: K6, *[yo] 2 times, k1, [yo] 3 times, k1, [yo] 4 times, k1, [yo] 3 times, k1, [yo] 2 times, k6; rep from *.

Row 4: *K6, drop 2 yo off left needle, k1, drop 3 yo, k1, drop 4 yo, k1, drop 3 yo, k1, drop 2 yo; rep from * to last 6 sts, k6.

Rows 5 and 6: Knit.

Row 7: K1, *[yo] 2 times, k1, [yo] 3 times, k1, [yo] 4 times, k1, [yo] 3 times, k1, [yo] 2 times, k6; rep from *, ending last rep k1 instead of k6.

Row 8: K1, *drop 2 yo off left needle, k1, drop 3 yo, k1, drop 4 yo, k1, drop 3 yo, k1, drop 2 yo, k6; rep from *, ending last rep k1 instead of k6.

Row 2–Ch 5, turn, skip first hdc, † yo twice, insert hook in back loop of next hdc, yo and draw up a loop–4 loops on hook, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook–3 loops remaining on hook, yo, skip next 2 hdc, insert hook in back loop of next hdc, yo and draw up a loop–5 loops on hook, * yo and draw through 2 loops on hook *; repeat between *'s once more, mark last 2 loops worked, off for center of cross st, repeat between *'s twice more–1 loop on hook, ch 2, yo, insert hook through 2 marked loops, yo and draw up a loop–3 loops on hook, repeat between *'s twice–1 cross st made; repeat from † 7 times, 1 tr in top of turning ch; 8 cross sts, plus turning ch and 1 tr.

Row 1: P 1, * yo, k 2 tog., k 3, p 2; repeat from *, end last repeat p 1. Row 1 is the right side of the work.

Row 2: K 1, * p 5, k 2; repeat from *, end last repeat k 1.

Row 3: P 1, * k 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 2, p 2; repeat from *, end last repeat p 1.

Row 4: K 1, * p 5, k 2; repeat from *, end last repeat k 1.

Row 5: P 1, * k 2, yo, k 2 tog., k 1, p 2; repeat from *, end last repeat p 1.

Row 6: K 1, * p 5, k 2; repeat from *, end last repeat k 1.

Row 4–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each st.
