America's Best Crochet Cotton (size 10 thread)

Few yards each white #1 and Red #95

7 crochet hook


with Red, chain 6.

Rw 1 in 6th ch from hook work (1dc, ch 2, 1dc), ch 5, turn.

Rw 2 under ch-2, work (1dc, ch2, 1dc) group, ch 5, turn.

Repeat row 2, 27 times. Fasten off.

Rw 3 attach white in first ch 5, chain 3, work 3dc, ch 3, 4ch in same place,
*in next ch-5 loop work (4dc, ch 3, 4dc, )(shell made) repeat from * around, join with slip stitch, fasten off.

Rw 4 attach Red to any ch 3 sp, ch 1, sc in same place, ch 3, 1 sc in same place, * ch 5, skip 4dc, sc in space between shells, ch 5, sc in next ch 3 sp, ch 3, sc in same place, repeat from * around, join, fasten off.

Rows 1, 3:  * k2, p1 *

Row 2: * k 1, p 2 *

Rows 4, 5, 6: Knit

Repeat rows 1 to 6 for desired  length. Another one that I like both sides.

Materials: to make four coasters
 2 balls Cream #3  1 Country Garden #167  Peaches & Crème by Elmore-Pisgah, Inc.
1 G hook

Rd 1, with cream ch 2, 6 sc in 2ch from hook., join with slip stitch

Rd 2  ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, join with slip stitch (12)

Rd 3  ch1, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, around. join with slip stitch (18sc.)

Rd 4   ch 1, 2 sc in same place. 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, end, 2 sc in last sc around, join with slip stitch (28).

Rd 5  Ch 2, 2 dc in next sc, 1 in each of next 2 sc. join with slip stitch (36 dc, ch 2 counts as 1 dc.)

Rd 6   Ch 2, post around next dc, 1 dc, post around next dc, around. join with slip stitch (18 post & 18 dc)

Rd 7   ch2, post around post, 2 dc, post around next post. join with slip stitch Fasten off cream. (18 posts & 36 dc)

Rd 8   Attach Country Gardens to top of any post, 4dc in same place, skip 1 dc, sc in next dc, 4 dc in top of next post, around. join with slip stitch Fasten off Country Gardens. Repeat for 3 other coasters.

This is another stitch that I couldn't decide if I liked the front or the back better.

Waffle Stitch  crochet

multiples of 4 stitches, + 2

For sample, chain  18 (4x4 = 16 + 2 = 18)

Foundation Row (RS): Dc into fourth ch from hook and into each ch across.
Ch 2, turn.

Row 1 (WS): Skip first st, *FPdc into next 3 dc, 1 dc into next dc.
Rep from * across, end row with FPdc into next 3 dc, dc into top of turning-ch. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2: Skip first st, *dc into next 3 sts, FPdc into next st. Rep from * across,
end row with dc into next 3 sts, de into top of turning-ch-3.  Ch 3, turn.      ,

Rep Rows 1 & 2 to for pattern until desired length, ending with

Row 2: *k 2, p 5,*, end k2.

Row 3: p 2, * k 1, yo 1, sl 1, k 2 tog, psso, yo, k 1, p 2 *

Row 4: *k 2, p 5,*, end k2.

Repeat rows 1 to 4 for desired length.
