Materials:

3 oz ea red and black , 1 oz white (I used Red Heart Sportweight)

                        Crochet hook size H

This pattern is made from the top down, and fits a 25 oz dish detergent bottle. For a smaller bottle simply decrease number of rows.

Head: With Black, ch 20, sl st to beg ch.

Row 1: ch 2 *dc in next 5 ch, 2 dc in next ch* Repeat from * to * 3 x's ending dc in next 2 ch, sl st to ch 2.

Row 2: ch 2 * dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc* repeat form * to * 6 x's sl st to ch 2.

Row 3 – 4: ch 2 dc in ea dc around, sl st to ch 2.

Row 5: ch 2*dc in next 5 dc, dc dec* repeat from * to * 4 x's ending dc in next 3 dc, dc dec, sl st to ch 2.

Torso and body:

Row 6: ch 2, dc in next 4 dc, yo insert hook in next st, pull up red, finish dc with red. Drop black to back of work. Working over black with red, (2 dc in next st, dcin next 5 dc) 2 x's, dc in next 4 dc, yo insert hook in next st, pull up black, finish dc. Drop red to back and working over red with black, 2dc in next st, dc in next 5 dc, sl st to top of ch 2.

Row 7: (pattern row) : ch 2, dc in ea dc around changing colors over previous color changes, sl st to ch 2.

8-18 repeat row 7.

Note: you can work the dots in by changing colors on the back side, or by stitching them on later.

Stitch facial features and make two sets of arms. Stitch in place in sides of body just before red begins.

Repeat these 2 rows for pattern.

Grandkids


My granddaughter was learning to sew, but could not work with patterns. Her little brother wanted her to make him something, so this is what she made. And remember, she had no pattern!! Complete with shoes, vest, pants, even eyes!!  She was about 8  to 10 years old then. 

Below is another thing she made, again no pattern she just starting sewing, using whatever I had on hand.

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY

"GEM" MERCERIZED CROCHET COTTON, Article 35, size 30

4 balls Yellow or Buttercup

8 balls Shaded Greens or colors of your choice; or

"STAR" MERCERIZED CROCHET COTTON, Article 20, size 30

5 balls Yellow

10 balls Shaded Greens or colors of your choice will make 4 mats

Steel crochet hook No. 12

Each motif measures about 2¾ inches x 2¾ inches

Each mat measures about 11 inches x 16½ inches

4 x 6 motifs are required for each mat.

With Yellow or Buttercup, ch 8, join to form a ring, ch 3, 15 d c in ring, join in 3rd st of ch.

2nd Row. Ch 5, 2 d tr c (3 times over hook) in same space keeping last loop of each d tr c on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, * ch 4, 3 d tr c in next d c keeping last loop of each d tr c on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, repeat from * all around, ch 4, join in top of 1st point, cut thread.

3rd Row. Attach Shaded Greens in any loop, ch 1, work 5 s c in same loop, * 5 s c in next loop, repeat from * all around, join in 1st sc.

4th Row. Sl st to center sc of loop, ch 3, 1 d c, ch 2, 2 d c in same space, * ch 1, 2 d c, ch 2, 2 d c (shell) in center s c of next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch.

5th Row. Sl st to center of shell, ch 9, tr c in same space (corner), * ch 4, 1 d c, ch 2, 1 d c in center of next shell, repeat from * twice, ch 4, 1 tr c, ch 5, 1 tr c in center of next shell (corner), repeat from 1st * all around ending to cor­respond, ch 4, join in 4th st of ch.

6th Row. Sl st into loop, ch 4, 2 tr c in same space keeping last loop of each tr c on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, * ch 5, tr c cluster st in same space (tr c cluster st: 3 tr c in same space keeping last loop of each st on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time), ch 6, skip 1 loop, 3 s c in next ch 2 loop, ch 5, skip 1 loop, shell in next ch 2 loop, ch 5, skip 1 loop, 3 s c in next ch 2 loop, ch 6, skip 1 loop, tr c cluster st in next loop (corner), repeat from * all around ending to correspond, ch 6, join.

7th Row. Row 3: k 3, sm, Knit across row to next marker, sm, k 3.

 

Row 4: k 3, sm, Purl across row, sm, k3.

 

Repeat rows 1 to 4 for desired length

G Hook
 2 balls Cream #3  1 Country Garden #167      Peaches & Crème by Elmore-Pisgah, Inc.




Using a G hook, and cream:

Rw 1  ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook, join with slip stitch

Rw 2   ch 1, 2 sc in each sc. join with slip stitch (12sc)

Rw 3   ch 1, 1 sc in same place, (2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 2 sc) around. join with slip stitch (16sc)
                                                                                                            
Rw 4   ch 2, 1 dc in same place, ( 2 dc in next sc, 1 dc in next sc,) around, end 3 dc in last sc,join with slip stitch (26dc)

Rw 5   ch 2, FPS around first dc, (1 dc in next dc, FPS around next dc) around, join with slip stitch (13 posts & 13 dc)

Rw 6   Ch 2, FPS around first post, 2 dc, FPS around next post, around. join with slip stitch ( 13 posts & 26dc)

Rw 7  Ch 2, FPS around first post, 3 dc, FPS around next post, around, join with slip stitch (13 posts & 39dc)

Rw 8 ch 2, FPS around first post, 4 dc, FPS around next post, around, join with slip stitch (13 post & 52 dc)

Rw 9 ch 2, FPS around first post, 5 dc, FPS around next post, around, join with slip stitch (13 posts & 65 dc)

Rw 10 Ch 2, FPS around first post, 2 dc, FPS around 3rd dc, 2 dc,  FPS around next post.,join with slip stitch (26 posts & 52 dc.)

Rw 11  Ch 2, FPS around first post, 3 dc, FPS around next post, around (26 posts & 78 dc),join with slip stitch Fasten off cream.

Repeat rows 1-11 for second half of pot holder.

Rw 12  Place pot holder together with posts facing outward, matching up the posts. Attach Country Gardens to the top of any post, ch2, 4 dc in same place, skip 1 dc, sc in next dc, skip 1 dc, 5 dc in tip of next post, around. Slip stitch to beg ch 2, chain 10 , slip stitch in same place to form hanger.

Repeat for rows 1-12 for the second pot holder.

chain 30

Set up row: 1 sc in second chain from hook and in each chain across row.

Row 1: 2 ch, * 00 yoh, insert hook in next sc, yoh, draw through loop, yoh, draw through 2 loops 00, repeat from 00 to 00 3 times, yoh, draw through 4 loops, 1 ch, skip 1 next sc *.  Repeat from * across row. Finish row with 1 dc in last sc.

 Row 2: 1 ch, * 1 sc in space, 1 sc in top of motif *, end 1 sc in top of turning chain 

Repeat from Rows 1 and 2,  9 times total, ending with row 2.

Fasten off, weave in the yarn ends.
