This is one of the hats I made last year for the same charity in Maine, it's simple and easy to make, hope you enjoy it. I have one more pattern done, and am finishing up another one, both I will post asap.
1 Worsted Weight 3oz. skein white, rose and a variegated to go
with the rose, or colors of your choice.
1 pair each size 5 and 7 circular knitting needles.
1 set size 7 double point needles.
1 row counter ("stitch marker to mark beginning of
row".)
Hat is appx. 7 1/2 inches from begging of ribbing to top center of
hat. If you need it bigger, try adding an extra 4 rows of stripes or do 2
inches of the ribbing.
With size 5 needles, and the variegated, cast on 108 stitches,
join being careful not to twist the stitches.
Notes: cut yarn and fasten off as needed, change to the double
points when needed.
Rds 1 to 9: Knit 2, Purl 2 around.
Change to size 7 needles
Change to size 7 needles
Rds 10 to 13: with white knit.
Rds 14 to 17: with rose, knit.
Rds 18 to 21: with variegated, knit
Rds 22 to 25: with white knit.
Rds 26 to 29: with rose, knit.
Rds 30 to 33: with variegated, knit
Rds 34 to 36: with white knit.
Rds 37 to 39: with rose, knit.
Rd: 40: with variegated, knit 2, knit 2 together.
Rd 41: Knit
Rd 42: Knit 2 together, Knit 3
Rd 43: Knit
Rd 44: Knit 1, Knit 2 together.
Rd 45: Knit 2 together, knit 1
Rd 46: Knit 2 together.
Finishing:
Leaving a long tail, run needle though remaining stitches and
draw up tight.
