March 2012 Pattern of the Month Knit Arm Chair Rests

March 2012 Pattern of the Month Knit

Arm Chair Rests @ 1994 by Bernie Schaefer

Materials:
Size 8 Knitting Needles
4 ply knitting yarn
1 row counter

When my mom gave me this pattern, she was in her 80's. She had knitted herself some arm chair covers, and gave me the pattern. But you can also use it for a very nice dishcloth by knitting until square, then finish with the four rows of plain knitting.

Cast on 40 stitches

Rows 1 to 4: Knit

Row 5: K 4, *K2, P2*  across row from * end, knit 4.

Row 6: K 4, *K2, P2 *  across row from * end, knit 4.

Row 7: K 4, * P2, K2 *  across row from * end, knit 4.

Row 8: K 4 * P2, K2 *  across row from * end, knit 4.

Continue in pattern ( rows 5 to 8 ) for as long as desired.

End with 4 rows of plain knitting, bind off weave in the ends.
