Doily



Doily is 8 ½ in diameter

MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS or CLARK'S O.N.T.
BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Size 30.
SMALL BALL:
J. & P. COATS -1 ball of White or Ecru, or 2 balls of
            OR       any color,
CLARK'S O.N.T.-2 balls of White , Ecru or any color.
Steel Crochet Hook No.5.
Completed Doily measures 8 1/2 inches.

This can be made with size 10 thread and an size 7 hook.

Starting at center, ch 8 and join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd: Ch 4 (to count as tr), 19 tr in ring (20 tr in all). Join with sl st to 4th st of ch-4 first made.

2nd rnd: Ch 4 (to count as dc and ch-l ), * dc in next dc, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-4 first made (20 dc with ch-l between).

3rd rnd: Ch 4 (to count as dc and ch-1), * dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join as before (40 dc with ch-l between).

4th rnd: Ch 5 (to count as tr and ch-l), * skip next dc, tr in next dc, ch 1, tr in same dc, ch 1. Repeat from * around, ending with tr in same st as ch- 5 started. Ch 1 and join with sl st to 4th st of ch-5 first made (20 groups of 2 tr).

5th rnd: Ch 5 (to count as dc and ch-2), * skip ch-l sp, dc in 1st tr of 2-tr group, dc in ch-l sp, dc in next tr of same 2-tr group (3-dc group made). Ch 2 and repeat from * around, ending with 2 dc, thus completing last 3-dc group. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-5 first made.

6th rnd: Ch 6 (to count as dc and ch-3), * dc in each dc of next 3-dc group, ch 3. Repeat from * around, ending with 2 dc and sl st in 3rd st of ch-6 first made.

7th rnd: Ch 5 (to count as tr and ch-l), * tr in center ch of ch-3, ch 1, tr in 1st dc of 3-dc group, ch 3, skip center dc of same group, tr in next dc of same group. Ch 1 and repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, sl st to 4th st of ch-5 first made.

8th rnd: Ch 4 (to count as tr), * tr in ch-l sp, tr in tr, tr in next ch-l sp, tr in next tr (5-tr group made), ch 3, tr in next tr. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, sl st to 4th st of ch-4 first made (20 groups of 5 tr).

9th rnd: Ch 3 (to count as dc), dc in remaining 4 tr of 5-tr group, * ch 4, dc in each tr of next 5-tr group. Repeat from * around, ending with eh 4, sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 first made (20 groups of 5 dc).

10th rnd: Ch 3 (to count as dc), dc in each of next 4 dc, * ch 4, dc in each dc of next 5·dc group. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 4, sl st to 3rd st of ch- 3 first made (20 groups of 5 dc).

11 th rnd: Ch 6 (to count as tr and ch 2), * skip next dc of 5-dc group, tr in next dc, ch 2, skip next dc, tr in last dc of same group, ch 2, tr in ch-4 sp, ch 2, tr in 1st dc of next 5-dc group. Repeat from * around, ending with eh 2, sl st to 5th st of ch-6 first made.

12th rnd: Ch 5 (to count as dc and ch 2), * dc in next tr, ch 2, dc in next tr, ch 1, dc under next ch-2, ch 1, dc in tr, eh 1, dc under next ch-2, ch 1, dc in tr, ch 2. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, sl st to 3rd st of ch-5 first made.

14th rnd: Same as 13th round.

Materials:

CLARK'S BIG BALL MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. B.34, Size 40: 3 balls of No. 61 ecru; or J & P. COATS BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. A.104, Size 40: 3 balls of Ecru.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 12.  

Doily measures 20 inches in diameter

  I used size 10 thread and a size 7 hook. Sorry I don't remember how many balls I used.

Doily .. Starting at center, ch 10. Join with 51 st to form ring.

Rd 1: 20 sc in ring. Join.

Rd 2: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join.

Rd 3: sl st in next loop, ch 3, 4 dc in same loop. drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of ch-3, draw dropped loop through (starting pc st made). * ch 5. 5 dc in next lopp, drop loop from hook. insert hook in first dc and draw dropped loop through (another pc st made). Repeat from * around. Join.

Rd 4: * 7 sc in next sp, ch 10, drop loop from hook. insert hook in first sc, draw dropped loop through, in loop just formed make 7 sc, ch 3 and 7 sc. Repeat from * around. Join.

Rd 5: sl st to next ch- 3 loop, sl st in loop, ch 9, tr in same loop, * ch 5, in next loop make tr, ch 5 and tr. Repeat from * around. Join to 4th ch of ch-9.

Rd 6: 6 sc in each sp around. Join (120 sc).

Rd 7: sc in same place as sl st, * ch 5, skip 3 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. ending with ch 2, dc in first sc.

Rd 8: Ch 3, make a starting pc st in loop formed hy ch 2 and dc, * ch 5, pc st in next loop. Repeat from * around, Join.

Rd 9: Repeat 4th rnd

Rd 10: sl st to next ch-3 loop, ch 9, tr in same loop, in each ch-3 loop around make tr, ch 5 and tr. Join.

Rd 11: * 7 sc in next loop, ch 1, in next loop make 4 sc, ch 3 and 4 sc; ch 5, turn, in ch-3 loop make tr, ch 5 and tr; ch 5, sl st in ch-l sp, turn, in each of next 3 sps make 3 sc, ch 3 and 3 sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

Rd 12: Attach thread to center loop on any point, sc in same place, * ch 10, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr make tr in next 2 loops, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint tr made); ch 10, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, d tr in first se.

Rd 13 : Ch 8, dc in sp formed by ch 5 and d tr, * ch 5, in next sp make dc, ch 5 and dc. Repeat from * around. Join.

Rd 14: Ch 3, in same sp make a starting pc st, ch 5 and a pc st (shell made); * ch 5, skip next sp, in next sp make pc st, ch 5 and pc st. Repeat from * around. Join to top of first pc st.

Rds 15, 16 and 17: Sl st in sp of next shell, ch 3, in same sp make a starting pc st, ch 5 and a pc st (shell made over shell); * ch 6, shell Over next shell. Repeat from * , around. Join.

Rds 18 to 24 incl: work as for last rnd, having 1 ch more between shells on each rnd (13 ch on 24th rnd).

Rd 25: * Shell over shell, ch 13, in next shell make pc st, ch 10 and pc st, ch 13. Repeat from * around. Join.

Rd 26: * Shell Over shell, ch 5, 17 tr in sp of next shell. ch 5. Repeat from *, around. Join.

Rd 27: * Shell over shell, ch 5, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 16 times; tr in next tr. ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join.

Rds 31 and 32: work as for last 2 rnds. having 2 loops and 2 pc sts less on each pineapple (11 loops on 32nd rnd).

Rd 33: In sp of first shell make pc st, ch 5, sc, ch 5 and pc st; * ch 5, (ski p next sp, pc st in next sp. ch 2) 10 times: pc st in next sp, ch 5. in sp of next shell make pc st. ch 5, sc, ch 5 and pc st. Repeat from * , around. Join.

Rd 34: * (Shell in next sp, ch 5) twice; skip next sp. (sc in next sp, ch 3) 9 times; sc in next sp. ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join.

Rd 35: * Shell over shcll. ch 5, sc in next sp, ch 5, shell over next shell. ch 5. skip next sp, (pc st in next sp. ch 2) 8 times: pc st in. next sp. ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join.
