Corner Medallion: Using ball and shuttle R, 3 ds, 7 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, cl r. * R, 3 ds, join to last p of last r, 3 ds, 6 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, cl r, repeat from * once (clover made) , turn.

Ch, 7 ds, p, 7 ds, join in 4th free p of last r. **Ch, 3 ds, 5 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, join to same p of same ring. * Ch, 3 ds, join to last p of last ch, 3 ds, 4 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, join to same p of same r. Repeat from * once. Ch, 7 ds, p, 7 ds, join in p where rings are joined, 7 ds, p, 7 ds, join in center p of next r. Repeat from **once. Ch, 3 ds, 5 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, join to same p of same r. * Ch, 3 ds, join to last p of last ch, 3 ds, 4 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, join to same p of same r. Repeat from *  once. Ch, 7 ds, p, 7 ds, join between 3rd and 1st r, tie and cut.

Edge around motif: Attach thread in center p of r made of chains. * Ch 3 ds, 4 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, join to center p of next r made of chs. Repeat from * once. Ch, 3 ds, 6 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, join to center p of next r made of chs. Repeat from 1st * twice, tie and cut.

Work 3 more motifs in same manner. Turn under about ¾ inch of each corner of handkerchief and crochet a row of single crochet (sc) across corner. Cut away extra material. Sew a motif to each corner as illustrated.

Edge: Attach thread in last p of small ch at corner, * ch, 3 ds, 5 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, skip 1/3  inch of handkerchief, join to handkerchief. Repeat from * across 1 side to next corner, tie and cut. Work across each side in same manner.

2nd Row: Join thread in 1st p of next ch of corner motif, ch, 4 cls, p, 4 cls, join to 2nd free p of ch of 1st row, * 4 ds, p, 4 ds, skip 1 P of same ch, join to next p, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, join to 2nd free p of next ch of 1st row.

Repeat from * across side, joining last ch to match opposite side. Work across each side in same manner.

3rd Row: Skip 1 P of same ch at corner. Attach thread in next p, * ch, 3 ds, 5 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, skip 1 ch of 2nd row, join to p of next ch. Repeat from * across side finishing to match opposite side, tie and cut. Work across other 3 sides in same manner.

 

 

 

 

Knitted Leg Warmers

Knitted Leg Warmers for a 4-5 year old child.

1 Skein each:
Red Heart
 310 Monet 358 Lavender
1 set #5 double pointed needles (or 5 straight needles)
1 set #8 double pointed needles (or 8 straight needles)
(see bottom of pattern)

On size 8 double pointed needles:
Using Straight Stitch 4 stitches equal one inch, and 5 rows equal one inch.

1. With Lavender, and #5 double pointed needles, cast on 32 stitches,
K2, P2 for 2 1/2 inches, change to size 8 double pointed needles,
and inc 10 stitches evenly around. (42 stitches)

2. Knit 6 rows in straight stitch, attach Monet, and work in pattern below.

3. Pattern: Starting with Monet, knit 2 rows, then work 4 rows in lavender, until you have repeat these rows, 9 times, (you'll have nine repeats of color monet.) (if you want leg warmers for a larger child, add more repeats of the pattern.

4. Fasten off Monet, and knit 6 rows of lavender, last row dec. 32 stitches., and do k2, p2 for 2 1/2 inches, Cast off very loosely, using the larger needles. You will want these to fit over the thigh or just under the knee.

This pattern can be worked on straight needles, just work back and forth, following the pattern, when done, sew back seam. Make 2.

MATERIALS -
Bucilla Machine Washable Fingering (2 ply yarn)
Yarn, 1 oz. skeins, 3 skeins.
Knitting Needles: Sock Needles, 1 set Size 1.

GAUGE:          9 rounds  1 inch

Cuff - Cast on 56 sts, divide on 3 needles, join, being careful not to twist stitches. Work even in k 2. p 2 ribbing for 6 rounds.

Eyelet Round - * Yo, k 2 tog.,  p 2; repeat from * around. Work ribbing for 6 more rounds.

Change to Spiral Pattern - K 4, P 4 alternately, for 4 rounds. * At beg. of next round, k 5, just once; then p 4, k 4 to end of round, end p 3, K 1 St from next needle onto needle in use; then k 4, p 4, for 3 more rounds. Repeat from * spiral pattern. 1 st to left every 4 rounds. until sock measures 11 ins. from beg. At this point try sock on, to determine length required before toe; work more rounds if a longer sock is desired.

TOE - (You will be decreasing 1 stitch in each group of k4 and p4)

First dec. rd - Beg. with first round of pat., k 1, k 2 tog.. k 2; p 4. * k 1, k 2 tog., k 1, p 4; repeat from * around. ending last purled group 1 St to left of preceding round as before. K 3, p 4 alternately, for 2 more rounds.

2nd dec. rd - K 4 (this moves pattern 1 st to left), p 1, p 2 tog.. p 1; * k 3. p 1, p 2 tog., p 1; repeat from * to end of round. K 3. p 3 alternately, for 2 more rounds.

(You will be decreasing 1 stitch in each group of k3 and p3)

3rd dec. rd - K 1, k 2 tog., k 1 (thus moving pattern 1 St to the left), p 3; * k 2 tog., k 1, p 3; repeat from * to end of round. K 2, p 3 alternately, for 2 more rounds.

4th dec. round - K 3 (thus moving pattern 1 St to left), p 2 tog.. p 1; * k 2, p 2 tog., p 1; repeat from * to end of round. K 2,  p 2 alternately, for 2 rounds.

5th dec. round - K 1, * slip 1, k 1, pass slipped st over k St. k 2; repeat from * to end of round. K 1 round even.

6th dec. round - K 1. * slip 1, k 1, pass slipped st over k St. k 1; repeat from * to end of round. K I round even. K every 2 sts tog.. until 7 sts remain. Fasten off leaving a 12-in. end. Draw end through all 7 Sts twice, tighten and darn in end.  Repeat for second sock

Row 1  1sc in 2nd chain from hook, and in each chain across row, chain 3, turn.

 Row 2  skip 2 sc, * 1dc in each of next 3sc, pass hook in front  of last 3dc, insert hook in skipped sc before the dc group, draw up a loop and complete the sc, skip 1sc, * repeat from * to * across row, end 1dc in last dc, chain 1, turn.

 Row 3  1 sc in each stitch across the row, end 1 sc in top of chain 3, chain 3, turn. (26sc).

 Repeat rows 2 & 3 7x, Fasten off pink. Do not turn. Attach Fiesta Ombre

 Row 18 ch 1, sc around, placing 3 sc in each corner, join with s/s.

 Row 19 ch 3, one dc in each sc around, placing 3dc in each corner, With s/s, fasten off.

Victorian Christmas Dishcloth

Materials needed
   Peaches & Crème by Elmore-Pisgah, Inc. 
 1 ball Hunter Green #63 
1 Ball Victorian Christmas #609 
G hook dishcloth Row 1 







With Hunter, chain 28, 1sc in 2nd chain from hook, and in each chain across, chain 2, turn. 

 Row 2 * yo, insert hook in next sc, yo, draw up a loop, yo, insert hook in next sc, yo, draw up a loop, yo, through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1, * , repeat from * to * across row, ch 2, turn. 

 Row 3 ch 1, 1 sc in same place, 1 sc in each stitch and each chain 1 space, across row, end 1 sc in turning chain, chain 2, turn. 

 Repeat rows 2 & 3 9 times, end with row 3. 

 Row 22 ch 1, sc in same place, sc evenly around dishcloth, placing 3 sc in each corner, join with slipstitch. 

 Row 23, repeat row 20, fasten off. 

 Row 24 With Victorian Christmas, ch 3, 3 dc in same place, 1 Dc in each sc around, placing 3dc in each corner. 

 Row 25 ch 3, *BPS around each dc, at corners work 1BPS, ch 1, BPS, ch 1, 1BPS, join, fasten off, join Hunter. 

 Row 26 ch1, 1 sc in same place, 1 sc in each dc and ch 1 around, placing 1sc in each ch1, and 3sc in each corner, fasten off. 

 Apron

 Row 1 with Hunter, ch 20, join with slip stitch, ch 1, 10sc in ring, turn. 

 Row 2-7 ch 1, 1 sc in same place, and in each sc across row, turn. 

 Row 8 ch 1, increase 7 stitches across row, evenly, turn. (17) 

 Row 9 ch 2, * yo, insert hook in next sc, yo, draw up a loop, yo, insert hook in next sc, yo, draw up a loop, yo,through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1, * , repeat from * to * across row, ch 2, turn. 

 Row 10 ch 1, 1 sc in same place, 1 sc in each stitch and each chain 1 space, across row, end 1 sc in turning chain, chain 2, turn. 

 Repeat rows 9 & 10 2 times, after row 14, fasten off hunter, attach Victorian Christmas, turn. 

 Row 15 ch 2, dc in same place, 1dc in each sc across row, turn. 

 Row 16 ch 2, BPS around each dc, across row, fasten off, attach Hunter. 

 Rd 17 ch 1, 2sc in same place, sc up side of apron evenly spacing stitches, 21sc around unworked chain at top of apron, sc evenly down opposite side of side of apron. 

Place 3sc in corner, sc along bottom of apron, 2 sc in last stitch. Fasten off. 

 Ties attach hunter to row 8, ch 30, fasten off. Attach hunter to opposite side on row 8, ch 30, fasten off.
