Size 30: 2 balls of White, or
CLARK'S BIG BALL MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. B.34, Size 30: 2 balls of
White.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 10.
FIRST MOTIF . . . Starting at center, ch 16. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3, 35 dc in ring. Join to top of ch-3.
2nd rnd: Ch 19, dc in 4th ch
from hook, now, working over chain, make 4 dc, ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from hook
(picot made), 11 dc, picot, 2 dc, half dc and 2 sc; * sl st in next 3 dc on
Center, ch 16, sl st in center dc (between picots) on last spoke made, ch 3 and,
working over ch-16, make 5 dc, picot, 11 dc, picot, 2 dc, half dc and 2 sc.
Repeat from * until 11 spokes have been completed, sl st in next 3 dc on
center, ch 16, sl st in center dc between picots on last spoke made, ch 3,
working over ch-16 make 5 dc, picot and 6 dc, sl st at base of first dc on
first spoke, then, working over remaining chain on last spoke, make 5 dc,
picot, 2 dc, half dc, and 2 sc, sl st in next 2 dc and in top of ch-3. Break
off.
3rd rnd: Attach thread to free picot on any spoke, sc in same place, * ch
15, sc in next picot. Repeat from * around. Join and break off (this is center
motif).
SECOND MOTIF . . . Work as for First Motif until 2 rnds have been completed.
3rd rnd: Attach thread to free picot on any spoke, sc in same place, ch 7,
sl st in any loop on First Motif, ch 7, sc in next picot on Second Motif, ch 7,
sl st in next loop on First Motif, ch 7, sc in next picot on Second Motif, ch
15 and complete rnd as for First Motif (no more joinings).
Make 5 more motifs, joining each motif to next 2 loops on Center
and to the next 2 loops following joining of previous motif. Join last Motif to
First Motif.
FILL-IN-MOTIF . . . Starting at center, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: Sl st in ring, (ch 6, 3 tr tr in ring, ch 6, sl st in ring) twice;
ch 6, 2 tr tr in ring, sl st in center ch of loop preceding joining on any
motif, make a tr tr in ring on Fill-in-Motif, ch 6, sl st in ring, ch 6, 2 tr
tr in ring, sl st in center ch of first loop on next motif, make a tr tr in
ring on Fill-in-Motif, ch 6. Join to first sl st. Break off. Fill in all sps
between motifs the same way.
Now work around motifs as follows:
1st rnd: Attach thread to first free petal on any Fill-in-Motif, sc in same
place, * ch 15, sc in tip of next petal, (ch 15, sc in next free loop) twice;
ch 15, sc in next sc, (ch 15, sc in next loop) twice; ch 15, sc in tip of next
petal. Repeat from * around. Join (42 loops).
2nd rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 15, sc in next
loop. Repeat from * around. Join.
3rd rnd: Sl st to
center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 14, sl st in 6th ch from hook (picot
made), ch 8, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join.
4th rnd: Sl st to next picot, sl st in picot, ch 4, in same picot make 2
tr, ch 3 and 3 tr (shell made); * ch 4, in next picot make 3 tr, ch 3 and 3 tr
(another shell made); ch 7, 8 tr in next picot, ch 7, shell in next picot.
Repeat from * around. Join to top of ch-4.
5th rnd: Sl st to sp of next shell, sl st in sp, ch 4, in same sp make 2
tr, ch 3 and 3 tr (shell made over shell); * ch 4, shell over next shell, ch 7,
2 tr in next 2 tr, tr in next 4 tr, 2 tr in next 2 tr, ch 7, shell over next
shell. Repeat from * around. Join.
6th rnd: Shell over first shell, * ch 4, shell over next shell, ch 7, (tr
in next tr, ch 1) 11 times; tr in next tr, ch 7, shell over next shell. Repeat
from * around. Join.
7th rnd: Shell over shell, * ch 4, shell over next shell, ch 6, (sc in next
ch-1 sp, ch 6) 11 times; shell over next shell. Repeat from * around. Join.
8th rnd: Shell over shell, * ch 4, shell over next shell, ch 6, skip next
ch-6, (sc in next loop, ch 6) 10 times; shell over next shell. Repeat from *
around. Join.
9th and 10th rnds: Work as for 8th rnd, making ch-5 between shells on 9th rnd, and
ch-7 on 10th rnd, and having 1 loop less on pineapples on each rnd.
11th rnd: Shell over shell, * ch 5, tr in center ch of next sp, ch 5, shell
over next shell, ch 6, skip next ch, (sc in next loop, ch 6) 7 times; shell
over next shell. Repeat from * around. Join.
12th rnd: Shell over shell, * ch 6, in next tr make tr, ch 3 and tr; ch 6,
shell over next shell, ch 6, skip next ch, (sc in next loop, ch 6) 6 times;
shell over next shell. Repeat from * around. Join.
13th rnd: Shell over shell, * (ch 7, tr in next tr) twice; ch 7, shell over
next shell, ch 6, skip next ch, (sc in next loop, ch 6) 5 times; shell over
next shell. Repeat from * around. Join, sl st across to last ch of shell sp. Ch
3, turn.
Now complete pineapple as follows:
1st row: Shell over shell, ch 6, skip next ch, (sc in next loop, ch 6) 4
times; shell over next shell. Turn.
2nd and 3rd rows: Sl st to sp of first shell, and work as for first row, having 1
loop less on pineapple on each row. Turn.
4th row: Sl st to sp
of first shell, shell over same shell, ch 6, skip next ch, sc in next loop, ch
6, shell over next shell. Turn.
5th row: Sl st to sp of first shell, ch 4, 2 tr in same sp, ch 3, holding
back on hook the last loop of each tr make 3 tr in same sp, thread over and
draw through all loops on hook (cluster made); in sp of next shell make a 3-tr
cluster, ch 3 and 3 tr. Turn.
6th row: Sl st to first sp, ch 5, d tr between next 2 clusters, in top of d
tr make ch 7, sl st, ch 9, sl st, ch 7 and sl st (triple picot made); ch 5, sl
st in next sp. Break off.
Attach thread to next shell on last rnd and complete pineapple as
before. Complete all pineapples the same way. Starch lightly and press.
