September 2024 Pattern of the Month Knit

                   Materials needed

Hat is knit in the round and about 14 in long

Materials needed: 

1 pair Large circular needles 6.5 mm

1 pair Small circular needles 4.0 mm

One skein Caron simply soft yarn in ocean

One row counter

Twisted stitch:

skip 1 stitch, but DO NOT remove it from the left hand needle, knit the next stitch, the new loop is on the right hand needle, now knit the first stitch that you skipped, it is now on the right hand needle and just let the two stitches on the left hand needle drop.

With smaller needles, cast on 96, Don't twist stitches,  join to form ring.

First Rd   knit

Rd 2:  K 2, p1, k2, p1, repeat ard

Rd 3: knit 2, p1, twisted stitch over two stitches, p1 ard.

Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 3x total 6 rows

Ending with rd 3

Chg to larger needles

Rd 7 *k2, p1, k2 , p1 , k2 , p4,  rep from * ard

Rd 8 * k2 , p 1, ts, p1 ,k  2, p 4, rept from* ard

Repeat rds 7 and 8 until piece measures 13   inches from start

Ending with rd 7

Rd 9: * k 2, p 1, ts , k2, p1, k 2, p2 together twice, rep from* ard,

Rd 10: *k2, p1, k2, p1, k2, p 2 together, repeat from * ard. 

Rd 11:  *k 2 together, p1, k2, p1, k2 together, p1, repeat from* ard

Run yarn through remaining stitches, draw up tight, weave in the yarn ends, and cut yarn.

Materials:
Red Heart Super Saver in lilac
size 7 circular knitting needles1 Set size 7 double pointed knitting needles 
1 Rd marker
1 cable needle
39 markers, of which 7 are red ones.

Notes: slip markers as you come to them.  I used red markers after every 20 stitches, because it's easier to see where the pattern repeats start and end.  The pattern is a 20 stitch repeat.

With a long tail, cast on 100, join, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Rd 1, 3: knit

Rd 2, 4: purl

Rd 5: * k 2, pm, k 1, pm, k 5, pm, k 1, pm, k 4, pm, k 1, pm, k 5, pm, k 1, place red marker, * repeat from * to * around.

Rd 6: * k 2, p 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 3, p 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 2, p 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 3,p 1, * repeat around from *  around.

Rd 7: * p 3, k 5, p 1, k 4, p 1, k 5, p 1, repeat from * around. This is the inside of hat.

Rd 8: *k 2, p 1, k 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 2, p 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 2, p 1, k 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 2,  p 1, *
repeat from * around

Rd 9: repeat rd 7

Rd 10: *k 2, p 1, k 2, yo, k 2 tog., k 1, p 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 2, p 1, k 2, yo, k 2 tog., k 1, p 1,*
repeat from * around

Rd 11: repeat rd 7

Rd 12: *k 2, p 1, k 3, yo, k 2 tog., p 1, slip two stitches to cable needle and hold in front of work, k next 2 stitches, k 2 stitches from cable needle, p 1,  k 3, yo, k 2 tog., p 1*
repeat from * around

Rd 13: repeat rd 7

Repeat Rds 6 to 13 two more times, for a total of 3 lace repeat.

Finishing:  change to double pointed needles when needed.
Rd 1, 3: knit
Rd 2, 4: purl, on round 4, place a marker after every 10th stitch
Rd 5: knit to 2 stitches before marker, k 2 tog.
Rd 6: knit.
Repeat rounds 5 and 6 until 2 stitches remain between markers. Turn hat inside out and run needles though remaining stitches and draw up tight, run though again. Cut ends, weaves ends of yarn in.

Materials:

Size 5 and 7 circular knitting needles

1 set size 7 double pointed neeldes

1 row counter

1 skein Red Heart sport weight yarn in white

About ½ or less of skein in purple, pink and violet Red Heart Sport weight yarn

1 skein pink eyelash type yarn.

Read all directions before beginning.

With white and size 5 circular needles, cast on 108 stitches, join being careful not to twist stitches.

Rds 1 to 10:  K2, P2 around

Rds 11: drop white, change to size 7 needles, attach pink eyelash yarn and purl 3 rows. Fasten off pink, and follow rows of 1 to 23 of the chart below. Work chart from right to left starting at round 1, then work rest of rows below.

Rds 24 & 25: with white, Knit

Rds 26, 27 & 28: drop white, attach the pink eyelash, and purl. At the end of row 28, fasten off pink eyelash and attach white. Change to size 7 double pointed needles when needed

Rd 29 to 33: knit

Rd 34:  K 2 tog, around.

Rd 35: Knit

Rd 36: K 2 tog, around.

Run needle thru remaining stitches, draw up tight, run needle thru again, fasten off, weave in the threads.

For Chart below white squares are left blank

Purple = P                       Pink = PK                      Violet = V

Rd 18D 1: means decease 1 stitch.
