Lace Rib Shawl or Scarf Pattern


Lace Rib Shawl or Scarf  Pattern@ 2003 By N.L. Banks



This pattern can be worked with a 4 ply yarn or a 1 ply acrylic yarn.   Appx size 9 inches by 50 inches.

Materials:
Size 10 knitting needles
Row counter
Stitch markers
2 skeins 4 ply acrylic yarn (I used Caron one pounder in Pink)
 OR 3 or 4 skeins of a 1 ply yarn ( 200 grams.) for shawl

Note: If you have never worked a lace type project before, it would be easier for you if you used a very light colored yarn, (not a variegated one) and stitch markers between each group of stitches, (between the k 1, p1, k1, & the five open work stitches).


Cast on 67 for shawl or 27 for scarf

Seeding rows 1 to 3: K 1, P 1, across row.

Row 1:  * K 1, p1, k1, (place marker), k5, (place marker) *, repeat from * to * across row, end (place marker) K 1, p1, k1. Slip markers as you come  to them.

Row 2 & 4 K 1, p1, k1,  * p5, k 1, p1, k1 *, repeat from * to * across row, end k1, p1, k1.

Row 3:   * K 1, p1, k1, (slip next stitch to right hand needle,) 2x, insert left hand needle into the back loops of the two slipped stitches and move to the left needle, then k 2 tog, yo, k 1, yo, sl 1, k 1, psso*, repeat from * to * across row, end K 1, p1, k1.

Repeat rows 1 to 4 for length desired or 49 pattern repeats, then do row 1,

Finishing:
Seeding rows 1 to 3: K 1, P 1, across row, bind off. Weave in ends.

Multiples of 2

 For sample cast on 22 ( 2 x 11 = 22)

Row 1:  S1, * k 2, yo, S 1, k 1, psso, repeat frim * across row to last stitch, k 1

Row 2: S 1, * p2, yo, p 2 together, repeat from * across row to last stitch, k 1,

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until square or desired length.

PSSO  = pass slipped stitch over

Row one is the front side.

 


 

 

New Dishcloths

I needed some dishcloths and picked two colors of cotton yarn, using a G hook, I just starting crocheting, one square and one round, below i...
