Based
on a multiple of 4 chain sts.
For
sample chain 16. (4 x 4 =16)
Row
1: 1 dc in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 dc in next ch,
repeat from * across row, ch 6, turn.
Row 2: *
Skip next dc, 1 dc in next dc, ch 3, repeat from across row, end skip last dc, 1 dc in 4th st
of turning-ch, ch 3, turn.
Row 3: 4
dc in each ch-3 sp across row, end 1 dc in 3rd st of turning-ch, ch 4, turn.
Row
4: Skip next 2 dc, * 1 dc in sp between 2 dc, ch 1, skip 2 dc, repeat
from * across row, end 1 dc in top of turning-chi ch 6, turn.
Note:
This would make a nice coaster set by crocheting till square in one color. Then
in another color, do sc crochet the same size as the first square, and
crocheting them together.
