February 2010  Pattern of the Month Crochet

 Dish cloth and Hot mat
dishcloth is the one pink on the left  and the hot mat is the blue one on the right below








Materials:                                                                                    

For Sample   ; Dishcloth

1 ball Peaches  & Crème Cotton yarn

     #47 Baby Pink

G hook

For Hot Pad

2 balls Double Worsted Weight

  1 #184 Spring Meadows

   1 # 19 Peacock

   J hook

BPS = Back Post Stitch

FPS = Front Post Stitch

DC  = Double Crochet

Chain a multiple of 4 plus 1

Row 1: 1 dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch to end. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2: Skip first dc, 1 dc from front around post of each of next 2 dc, *1 dc from back around post of next dc, 1 dc from front around post of each of next 3 dc; rep from *, ending 1 dc from front around post of each of last 2 sts, 1 dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.

Row 3: Skip first dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, * 1 dc from front around post next dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc; rep from *, ending 1 dc in each of last 2 dc. 1 dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.

Repeat rows 2 & 3 for stitch pattern.

For Sample:   chain 21 work until square.

For Dishcloth

With J hook, work rows 1,2, & 3 of pattern, then work rows 2 & 3 until square, do not turn.

Round 1: ch 1, sc around, placing 2 sc in each corner stitch, join with slip stitch.

Round 2: ch 2, work 1 dc in each sc around, placing 3 dc in each corner.

Round 3: Ch 2 * 1BPS around next dc, 1 dc in next dc, repeat from * around.

Round 4: Ch 2, repeat round 3.

Round 5: ch 1, 1 sc in each dc and post stitch around, placing 3 sc in each corner.                

For Hot Pad

Use J hook.

Work same as dishcloth but use peacock and on edging change to Double Worsted Spring Meadows on round 2,  and do not do round 4.

This stitch is worked on an even number, for sample make a

chain of 26.

        

Foundation Row: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in

each ch to end. Ch 1, turn.

           

Row 1: 1 Sc in first sc, *1 Sc thru back loop of next

Sc, 1 sc in next Sc; rep from *, ending sc in last Sc.

Ch 1, turn.

           

Row 2: 1 sc in first sc, *1 sc thru front loop of next

sc, 1 sc in next sc; rep from *, ending sc in last sc.

Ch 1, turn.

        

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 till your sample is square.

1 ball Peaches & Creme Premium Cotton yarn #P220 Western
"F" crochet hook
Dishcloth is about 8 x 91/2 inches

Chain 31

Row 1: 1 hdc in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across row, ch 3, turn.

Row 2: Working in back loops only this row, 1 dc in same place as turning chain, * ch 1, skip 1 hdc, 1 dc in next hdc, ch 2, skip 1 hdc, 2 dc in next hdc, repeat from * across row, ch 2, turn.

Row 3: 1 hdc in same place as turning chain, and in each dc and ch 1 space across row,
ch 2, turn.

Work rows 2 and 3 until square, ending with row 3. (end last row with a ch 1)

Edging:
Round 1: working in back loops, sc across the top, and place 2 sc in last stitch on top
only. Now working with both loops, sc around remaining 3 sides, placing 2 sc in each corner, join with slip stitch to first ch 1. Fasten off, weave in the ends.

RND: 1 Ch. 3, 1 dc in ring, * ch 1, 2 dc in ring.  Repeat from * around 8 times, join with a ss to top of ch. 3. ( 9-2 dc groups made.)

RND: 2 Ch 3, 1 dc in next dc,  1dc in ch.1 space, * ch 2,1 dc in next 2 dc, 1dc in next ch 1 space, repeat from * around 8 times, join with a ss to top of ch3. ( 9-3 dc groups made)

RND: 3 Ch 3,  1dc in next 2 dc, 1 dc in ch 2 space, * ch 2, 1 dc in next 3 dc, 1dc in ch 2 space, repeat from* around 8 times, join with a ss to top of ch 3, ( 9-4 dc groups made)

New Dishcloths

I needed some dishcloths and picked two colors of cotton yarn, using a G hook, I just starting crocheting, one square and one round, below i...
