Nina’s Colors Reversible Afghan

Nina’s Colors Reversible Afghan
@ 2005 by BarbaraAnn Couturier

This afghan is really really beautiful! I want to thank Barb again for the pattern, and she sent me the afghan as a gift. I love it. Thank you so much!

Red Heart 4 Ply Worsted Weight Yarn:
 24 oz Navy Blue
24 oz White             Size H hook

Ch 151 with Navy Blue.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each remaining ch. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in each sc across to last sc. In last sc, insert hook, yo, pull yarn through, cut yarn leaving a length about 3 inches long, drop Navy Blue and pick up White, leaving a length the same size, yo and pull through all sts on hook.

( You have now completed a sc color change.  Do all color changes in this manner. For a dc color change, yo, insert hook in last st, yo, pull yarn through, cut yarn leaving a length about 3 inches long, drop that color and pick up next color, leaving a length the same size, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, yo and draw through remaining loops.)

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc now and throughout pattern), turn, dc in next sc, *sc in next 2 sc, dc  in next 2 sc. Repeat from * to last st an do a color change as described in Row 2. You should have ended with a dc.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, *sc in next 2 dc, dc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * to last st and do a color  change as described in row 2.

(You may tie the ends together as you go for the fringe, or you may tie them after you complete the afghan. The choice is yours.)

Repeat rows 3 and 4 to desired length ending with a white row and doing a color change. Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn, sc in each st across, fasten off. Weave in beginning and ending lengths only.

Note: Toss afghan in your dryer on a heat cycle for 15- 20 minutes. I find that this pulls the sizing out of the yarn and leaves the afghan soft.
