The Gift Doily
American thread co, star book # 128
Materials
American threads Puritan mercerized crochet cotton, article 40 or
"De Luxe" quality mercerized crochet cotton article 346
1 ball each shaded nile greens and white, or colors of your choice.
Steel crochet hook No. 7
Approx 9 inches
With shaded greens, chain 2, 8 sc in 2nd stitch from hook, join in 1 st sc.
Rd 2 ch 3, dc in same sp, *ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * 6x, ch 2, join in 3rd st of ch.
Rd 3 ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 4, 1 dc in each of the next 2dc, repeat from * all around, ch4, join.
Rd 4 ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch3, dc in next loop, ch3, 1 dc in each of the next 2dc, repeat from * all around ending with ch 3, dc in next loop, ch 3, join.
Rd 5 ch 1, sc in same place, sc in next dc,* 3sc in next loop, sc in next dc, 3 sc in next loop, 1 sc in each of the next 2dc, repeat from * all around ending to correspond, join in 1st sc, cut thread.
Rd 6 attach white in same sp, ch 3, dc in next sc, *ch 3, skip 3 sc, 1 dc in each of next 2 sc, ch 3, skip 2 sc, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, repeat from * all around, ch 3, join.
Rd 7 ch3, dc in same sp, dc in next dc, *ch3, 2dc in next dc, dc in next dc, repeat from *all around, ch3, join.

Multiple of 3 + 2 stitch for selv.
For sample
Cast on 23 ( 3 x 7+ 2 = 23 )
Set up row: k 1, place marker, k to last stitch, place marker, k 1
Row 1: K 1, sm, purl across to last 3 stitches, sm, k 1.
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: knit work very very loose
Row 4: k 1, slip marker (sm) * K 3 tog. (leave sts on left-hand needle) knit the first of 3 sts, k next 2 tog. tbl *. repeat from * across row, sm, k 1
Repeat rows 1 to 4 for
desired length.

Weaving a new scarf
This is a picture of a scarf I am weaving for my granddaughter
for Christmas. Taking me a bit longer but am getting it done.
I have used several different types of yarn here. Simply soft being the main in the blue. Also used a variegated in a blue too with a yellow mohair type and a fluffy type yarn as well.
You can't see it but I used a ribbon yarn in the warp but not in the weft. All machine wash and dry.
I really enjoy weaving. I want to make another scarf or two and a christmas table runner. Then another kitchen dish mat.
