December 2020 Stitch of the Month





Chain a multiple of 4 plus 3.


For a large coaster or square, ch 19. For a dishcloth ch 31 or for a larger one, try using a ch of 35 or 39. You can also try cutting netting into small long strips and use a larger hook, ch 19, and use it as a pot scrubber.

       

Foundation Row: 

1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end.  Ch 1, turn.


Pattern rows:     

Row 1: 1 sc in first sc, *ch 4, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc; rep from *, ending ch 4, 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.          

Row 2: Holding ch-4 at back (right side), work 1 sc in each sc to end. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, * ch 4, 1 so in each of next 4 sc; rep from *, ending ch 4, 1 sc in each of last 3 sc. Ch 1, turn.          

Row 4: Same as Row 2.       

Repeat from Row 1 for pattern or until square.

Materials:
1 pair size 8 knitting needles
1 ball Peaches & Crème 4 ply worsted weight  Cotton yarn, any color.
2 markers for border. 

Cast on 37.

Row 1 - 3: K1, P1, K1 across row.

Row 4: k1, p1, k1, (pm), knit to last 3 stitches, (pm) k1, p1, k1.




Row 5: k1, p1, k1, purl 31, k1, p1, k1.

Row 6: k1, p1, k1, *yo, k2 tog across to last 4 stitches, k2, p1, k1

Row 7: k1, p1, k 33, p1, k1.

Row 8: k1, p1, k 33, p1, k1.

Row 9: k1, p1, k1, purl 31, k1, p1, k1.

Row 10: k1, p1, k 2 *yo,  k2 tog across, end ,k1,  p1, k1.

Row 11: k1, p1, k 33, p1, k1

Repeat rows 4 to 11, 6 times, then rows 4 & 5 one time. Do rows 1 to 3, bind off, and weave in threads.
