December 2014 Pattern of the Month Crochet

Winter Blues Dishcloth   Ó1999 N.L. Banks



Materials:
Peaches and Cream Cotton Yarn    by Elmore-Pisgah, Inc.                        
1 balls Mauve #48    1 ball Winterberry  # 170      "G" Hook


Stitches used:  
 s/s  = slip stitch
single crochet = sc
double crochet = dc
Double Crochet Front Post Stitch = DCFPS


Rd 1:  with Mauve, ch 6 to form ring, *ch 4, 1 sc in ring, repeat from * 7 times, end ch 1,  1 treble  in ring, ( 8 – loops)

Rd 2:  ch 2, 2 dc in same loop, * ch 1, 3 dc in next loop, repeat from * around, end ch, join with slip stitch to top of ch 2, fasten off.

Rd 3:  attach Winterberry  to any ch 1 sp, * ch 6, sc in next ch 1 sp, repeat from * around, end ch 2, 1 dc in last ch 1 sp.

Rd 4: ch 3, 2 dc in same place, * ch 1, 1 dc  in sc, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch ch 6 loop, ch 2, 3 dc in same loop, repeat from * around, end 1 dc in sc, ch 1, 3 dc in loop, ch 2, join with 1dc to top of beg ch 3. Dc on this row counts as a ch 2 space.

Rd 5: Ch 3, 2 dc in 2 ch sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch 2 sp. *ch2, skip ch 1 sp, 2 DCFPS around next dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next 2 ch sp, (shell made) repeat from * around,  join with slip stitch to top of beg ch 3. Fasten off.

Rd 6: join Mauve to any ch 2 sp of  any shell, ch 2, 2 dc , ch 2, 3 dc, in same ch 2 space, (shell made) * ch 2,  DCFPS around next 2dc, ch 2, shell over shell, repeat from * around, end ch2, join to top of beg ch 2.

Rd 7:  slip stitch over to ch 2 space, ch 2, 2dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch 2 space, * ch2, DCFPS around next DCFPS, ch 1, FPS around next DCFPS, ch2, shell over shell, repeat from *  around, join, with slip stitch.

Rd 8:  slip stitch over to ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 3, 3dc  in 2 ch sp, *ch 2, DCFPS around next DCFPS, ch 2,  DCFPS around next DCFPS, ch 2, in next  ch 2 space of  next shell, work 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, (shell made)  repeat from * around, join with slip stitch. Fasten off .

Rd 9: attach Winterberry to any ch 3 of shell, ch 2, 2dc, ch 3, 3 dc, * ch 3, DCFPS around next DCFPS, ch 3, DCFPS around DCFPS, ch 3, shell over shell, repeat from * around, join, fasten off.

Flying V Lace: (multiple of 10 sts + 1)

 

Notes:

SSK = slip two stitches knit wise and then knit them together

SK2P = slip one stitch, knit 2 stitches together and pass the slip stitch over.

 

Row 1 (RS):  K 2, pm, K1, *(yo, ssk) twice, k1, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1; rep from * across to last stitch, pm, K 1.

 

Rows 2 (WS): K 1, sm, purl across to last 2 stitches, sm, K 2.

 

 Row 3: K 2 sm, K1, *k1, yo, ssk, yo, sk2p, yo, k2tog, yo, k2; rep from * across to last stitch, sm, K 1.

 

 

 Row '4 (WS): K 1, sm, purl across to last 2 stitches, sm, K 2.

 

 Rep Rows 1-4 for a total four times

 

Knit 5 rows, do not remove markers. ( next pattern starts with a back side row )
