November 2019 Pattern of the Month Knit

November 2019 Pattern of the Month Knit

Knitted Christmas Bells @2006 by Donna Harris

Using sport weight yarn and size 2 or 3 knitting needles:

Cast on 14 stitches.

Row 1:  Knit 10 stitches, purl last 4 sts.

Row 2:  Knit all stitches.

Repeat these two rows until 22 ridges have formed, ending with knit row.

Bind off all stitches.  Leave 12 inch length of yarn after binding off all stitches.  Thread this strand of yarn into a tapestry (yarn) needle and sew together cast on and bound off stitches (edges).

You will now see a border of stockinette stitch at one end.  This is the bottom of the bell.

At other end (top of bell) run tapestry needle through every other stitch drawing it tight.  Tie in a little jingle bell for clapper.
