Stitch of the Month Crochet
Crossed Shells
Based on a multiple of 7 chain plus 2.
This stitch is a simple crossed shell design.
Note: When working the double crochet of the
crossed shell, remember
to pull up a long loop.
Row 1: 1
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * skip 3 ch, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1, 3 dc in last ch of
ch-3 just skipped for a crossed shell, skip 2 ch, 1 Sc
in next ch, repeat from * across, ch 3, turn.
Row 2: 2
dc in first Sc, * 1 sc in next ch-1 sp in center of shell groups, 3 dc in sp
after
next sc, ch 1, 3 dc in sp before same sc, repeat from * across, end 1 sc in last
ch-1 sp, 3 dc in last sc, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: *
3 dc in sp after next sc, ch 1, 3 dc in sp before same sc, 1 sc in next ch-1
sp,
repeat from * across, end 1 sc in top of turning-ch, ch 3, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 for pattern.
This would work up great using rug yarn and a
large hook. Or a scarf, using a 2 ply or 3 ply yarn.
