March 2013 Stitch of the Month Knit

For sample cast on 21 (7x3= 21)

Multiple of 7 sts



Row 1:   wrong side purl across.

Rows 2 and 7:      * K 6, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Rows 3 and 6:      * K 2, p 5; repeat from * to end.

Rows 4 and 5:      * K 4, p 3; repeat from * to end.

Rows 8 and 13:    * K 1, p 6; repeat from * to end.

Rows 9 and 12:    * K 5, p 2; repeat from * to end.

Rows 10 and 11:  * K 3, p 4; repeat from * to end.

Row 14:    knit across

Repeat these 14 rows for desired length, ending on wrong side with row 13, binding off in knitting.
This would make a nice warm scarf if you just kept knitting until it is long enough for
 a scarf.

Multiple of 4 ch sts

For sample chain 20.

Row 1:  right side–Work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each re¬maining ch; 34 dc counting turning ch as 1 dc.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in next dc, * ch 2, skip next 2 dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc; repeat from * across row, working last dc in top of turning ch.

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in next dc, * 2 dc in next ch-2 space, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc; repeat from * across row, working last dc of last repeat in top of turning ch.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until square or desired length, always ending with row 3. fasten off.
