For sample, ch 19. If you want to make an chair or sofa arm cover, use acrylic yarn, an H hook, ch 37, and work to desired length. You could also make a dishcloth out of this same pattern stitch, use cotton yarn, a G hook, and ch 25, work pattern stitch until square. Then do an edging around it.
1 row: 4 d c in the 4th from hook, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in next st., * ch 3, skip 2 sts, 5dc in next st, skip 2 sts, 1sc in next st. Repeat from * to end of row, turn ch 3, turn.
2nd row: 4 dc in sc previous row, * 1 sc in ch 3 space, ch 3, 5 dc in sc. Repeat from * ending row with a 1 sc in last dc of previous row.
