MATERIALS:
Small
amount of white 4 ply yarn
7
oz. (4 ply) Ombre yarn –color of your choice. (I used ombre Sayelle,
Yellow/Green).
Small
scrap of red and black 4 ply yarn to embroider facial features.
Heart
Bead for nose (or embroider with red yarn).

Jingle Bells (or pom pons).
Stuffing
Size G Crochet Hook
GAUGE: 4 sc = 1”
HEAD: (Make 2 pieces)
FRONT: With White yarn ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (Do not join rnds, but mark beg of each rnd).
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnd 3: *Sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc* around – 18 sc.
Rnd 4: *Sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around – 24 sc.
Rnd 5: *Sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc* around – 30 sc.
Rnd 6: *Sc in 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc* around – 36 sc.
Rnd 7: *Sc in 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc* around – 42 sc.
Rnd 8: *Sc in 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc* around – 48 sc. Sl st in first st of next rnd. Fasten off yarn, leaving length for sewing.
BACK: With ombre yarn make another piece the same for back of head. Sew 2 pieces together (right sides out) stuffing head firmly before closing.
FRONT PART OF HOOD: Ch 20, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (do not ch 1 before turning).
ROW 2: Sl st in first sc, sc in each sc across to last sc, sl st in last sc. (19) Turn.
ROW 3: Sl st in first sc, sc across, dec 2 sts evenly spaced, sl st in last st, turn. (17 sts).
ROW 4: Sl st in 1st st. Sc even across, dec 2 sts evenly spaced, sl st in last st, turn. (15 sts).
ROW
5: Sl st in 1st st, sc even across,
dec 2 sts evenly spaced, sl st in last st. (13 sts).
End
off, leaving length of yarn for sewing. Sew to top of head at top seam. Do not
sew smaller front edge down.
HAT
TIPS: (Make 2) With ombre Ch 16, join with sl st
to form a ring. Ch 1, sc in each ch around.
(Do not join rnds, but mark beg of each rnd). Work even on 16 sc for 12 rnds.
NEXT RND: Dec 2 sc evenly spaced around – 14 sc.Work even on 14 sc for 3 rnds.
NEXT RND: Dec 2 evenly spaced around – 12 sc.Work even on 12 sc for 3 rnds.
NEXT RND: Dec 2 sc evenly spaced around –10 sc.Work even for 1 rnd.
NEXT RND: Dec 2 evenly spaced around –8 sc.
NEXT RND: Dec 2 evenly spaced around – 6 sc. Sl st top closed and end off. Do not stuff these pieces. Sl st bottom together and sew to top of head. Attach 1 jingle bell to each tip. (Use pom pons if for a small child or baby.)
BODY: Ch 15, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch
across, working on opposite side of ch, sc across. (Do not join rnds but mark
end of each rnd). Continue 1 sc in each sc around until body measures 6” tall
(28 sts). Sl st in next st, Fasten off yarn leaving a length for sewing. Stuff body. Sew top of body closed, then sew on head. (You may have to take extra sts on each side front and back to help anchor the head).
ARMS: (Make 2) With white, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (Do not join rnds, mark beg of each rnd).
RND 2: 2 sc in each sc around. 12- sc.
RND 3: * Sc in 1st sc, 2 sc in next sc * around 18 – sc.
RND 4: Work 1 rnd even. End off white, attach ombre. Work even on 18 sc with ombre yarn until arm measures 13” in length. Stuffing very lightly as you work. At end of last rnd, sl st in 1st st on next rnd, Fasten off yarn leaving length for sewing. Sew ends together and then sew to side of body at top.
LEGS: (Make 2) With ombre ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (Do not join rnds, mark beg of each rnd).
RND 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
RND
3: * 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc *
around. – 18 sc. Work even on 18 sc until leg measures 14” long. Stuffing very lightly as you work. (Arms and
legs should be able to tie around crib
bars).
At end of last rnd, sl st in 1st sc of next rnd. Fasten off yarn leaving length for sewing. Sew end of leg together and then sew legs side by side to bottom of body.
FACIAL FEATURES: Sew heart bead in center of face for nose. (If for small child, embroider nose in red). Embroider red mouth and blue eyes.
