For base, chain 26 stitches Starting row: 

Sk 1 ch, *sc in next ch, dc in next ch, repeat from * across row, ch 1, turn.

All Rows: 

*sc in dc, dc in sc, repeat from * across row,

 ch 1, turn.

Repeat until it's the size you want, or until square.

Size 5 knitting needles

Red Heart Sport Weight yarn in 810 Yale Blue

2 pieces of ribbon about 15 inches long

 Cast on  27 stitches



Row 1: *p 2, k 1, p 1, k 1, * end p 2.


Row 2: k 2, * p 3, k 2, *


Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 1 inches ( 5 rows total) ending with row 1,

Beading row:

K1, yo, K2 tog., across row.

Now change to pattern:

Row 1: P 2, * yon, K 2 tog. through the back loops, K 1, P 2 *,

Row 2: K 2, * yon, K 2 tog. through the back loops, P 1, K 2 *.

 

Repeat pattern rows 1 and 2 for 4  inches from beginning, ending with row 2.

  K 2 tog, k 1, repeat across row.

 Cut 10 inch piece of yarn and run thru stitches, pulling up tight, then weave side stitches together.  Make 2, weave ribbon in and out the beading row on mittens.

 Color #191 Peppermint - 1 Cone.

 G Hook 

 StitcheStitches: 
Single Crochet=sc;
 Double Double Crochet=dc, 
Treble Crochet (yo 2x) =tr 
Double Treble Crochet (yo 4x)=dtr 

 DIRECTIONS: First Strip: with white, chain 225. 

 Row 1: Sc across row, ch 4, turn. (224 sc) 

 Row 2: Skip 1 sc, *dc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc, 1 dc in next sc, repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 

 Row 3: Sc in each sc, and dc across row, end, 1 sc in top of turning chain, ch 4, turn. 

 Row 4: *skip sc, treble (YO 2x) in next sc, working behind treble just made, treble in skipped sc, repeat from * across row, end 1 treble in top turning ch, ch 1, turn. 

 Row 5: SC across row, ch 4, turn. (224 sc)

 Row 6: Skip 1 sc, * dc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc, 1 dc in next sc, repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.

Edging 
 Rd. 1: sc around, placing 2 sc in each double treble, join, fasten off 

 Make 8 White strips, 4 red strips, 3 Peppermint strips. Sew together starting with a white, red, white, peppermint, white, red, white, peppermint, etc, ending with a white strip.

 Cast on  21 ( 2 x 10 + 1 = 21)

 Row 1: with color A, knit

Row 2: with color A, knit

 Row 3: with color B, knit

 Row 4: with color B, k1, *yo, k2 tog, repeat from * across row.

 Repeat rows 1 to 4 until desired length, end repeat rows 1 and 2.

Work even for 3 inches. then decrease 1 St. each side every row 9 times, then bind off 5 Sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then bind off remaining Sts.

Belt: Cast on 20 Sts. Work in Ribbing of K1, P.l for 28 inches. Decrease 1 St. each side every other row 6 times. bind off remaining Sts.

Cuff: Cast on 10 Sts. Work in Ribbing of K1, P.I, for 6 1/2 inches. Bind off.
Sew shoulder seams. Sew Sleeves in place. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Sew Cuff to Sleeves.

Sew Buckle to straight end of Belt. Sew Belt to Jacket. (Buckle at Left Front) leaving 2 inches of point free to draw through Buckle. Work 1 row of S.C. at front edge and around neck and buckle.
