Open Work Hat Bonus Pattern 2015

Note: If you have never worked a lace type project before, it would be easier for you if you used a very light colored yarn, (not a variegated one) and stitch markers between each group of stitches, (between the k 1, p1, k1, the five open work stitches). 

Picture shown is the med one.




Materials:
½ skein Patton's Pink Worsted Weight Yarn
1 row marker
25 stitch markers
Size 5 & 7 circular knitting needles
1 set Size 7 double pointed knitting needles

With size 5 circular needles, cast on
104 for ex-large, 96 for large, 88 for med, 80 for small, join being careful not to twist stitches.

Ribbing:
Rd 1: knit
Rd 2: k 1, p 1 around.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 four times, for a total of 8 rounds.
Change to size 7 circular needles
Rd 9: p 1, k 1, around
Rd 10: k 1, p1 around,
Rd 11: Repeat round 9.

Now start round 1 of pattern

Row 1:  * k1, p1, k1, (place marker), k5, (place marker) *, repeat from
              * to * around.  Slip markers as you come to them.

Row 2 & 4 *p 1, k1, p1,  * k5, repeat from * to * around.

Row 3:   * K 1, p1, k1, (slip next stitch to right hand needle,) 2x, insert left hand needle into the back loops of the two slipped stitches and move to the left needle, then k 2 tog, yo, k 1, yo, sl 1, k 1, psso*, repeat from * to * around.

Repeat rows 1 to 4 for five  pattern repeats, and then do row 1 again,

Now.
Rd 1: p 1, k 1, around
Rd 2: k 1, p1 around,
Rd 3: Repeat round 1.

Finishing:
Rd 1: knit, placing markers after every 8th stitch.
Rd 2: Knit to 2 stitches before marker, k2 tog.

Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until you have 1 stitch between markers.
Run yarn needle through remaining stitches, draw up tight, through again. Weave in ends.

Variegated Swirl Knit Ski Hat

Materials needed

Worsted weight yarn in main
A variegated color for second yarn
10 stitch markers 
1 row counter
Size 5 and 7 circular knitting needles
1 set size 7 double pointed needles
1 yarn needle




Note: slip markers as you come to them.
PM = place marker

Using size 5 circular needles and main, cast on 112

Rd 1: Knit

Rd 2: Purl

Rd 3: Knit 2, Purl 2 round,

Rd 4 to Rd 10: repeat round 3.

Change to size 7 circular needles and variegated yarn.

Rd 11 to rd 14: knit, drop variegated but do not cut the yarn after rd 14, attach main

Rd 15 to Rd 30: with main, knit 3, with variegated knit 3, around, carry yarn loosely behind work.

Rd 31: drop the solid color and with the variegated, knit and decease 2 stitches this round only.

Rd 32 & 33: knit.

Rd 34: knit with the variegated, and place a marker after every 10th stitch, fasten off the variegated.

Rd 35: with main, knit to 2 stitches before marker, knit 2 tog.

Rd 36: knit.

Change to the size 7 double points when you need to.

Repeat rounds 35 and 36 until you have 10 stitches left. Run yarn needle through the remaining stitches, draw up tight, and run through again. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

Cast on 17 stitches: (2 x 8 = 16 + 1 = 17)


Rows 1:  k 2, place marker,  knit to last 3 stitches, place marker,  k 3


Rows 3, 5, 6: k 2, slip marker,  knit to last 3 stitches, slip marker,  k 3 


Rows 2, 4: k 3, slip marker, purl to next marker, slip marker, k 2.

 

Row 7: K 2, slip marker, * k 2 together, yo,* repeat from * to * across row to 1 stitch before marker, k 1, slip marker, k 3


Row 8: k 3, knit to next marker, slip marker, k 2.


Repeat pattern rows 1 to 8 for desired length

Materials:
Main  dark blue
Color A    Lime green
Color B   Variegated
Color C  Yellow

Main color about 1/2 to 3/4 skein
Colors A B C less than 1/2 skein yarn
Size 4 and 7 circular knitting needles
Size 7 double pointed needles
1 Row counter
9 stitch markers

With size 5 circular needles, and using main cast on  100 stitches, join, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Round 1: knit

Round 2 & 3: Knit 2, Purl 2, drop main, attach lime

Round 4: with lime, knit 2, purl 2, drop lime, attach yellow

Round 5: with yellow, knit 2, purl 2, drop yellow, attach variegated,

Round 6: with variegated knit 2, purl 2, fasten off variegated,

Round 7: with yellow, knit 2, purl 2, fasten off yellow.

Round 8: with lime, knit 2, purl 2, after rd 4, fasten off lime.

Round 9 & 10: with main, knit 2, purl 2, after round 10, change to size 7 circular needles.

Round 11: knit

 Start row one of chart.

Crown:
Fasten off all colors except main after round 29.
Round 1: With main, knit, placing markers after every 10th stitch.
Round 2: knit to 2 stitches before marker, knit 2 tog.
Round 3: knit

Repeat rounds 2 and 3 until 6 stitches between markers, then decease every row until 2 stitches remain. Change to the double pointed needles when needed.  Run needle thru remaining stitches, draw up tight, run needle thru again, fasten off, weave in the threads.
