Diane's Dishcloth

Granny Dishcloth -
 Materials needed, small amounts of four contrasting colors of worsted weight cotton yarn such as Sugar'N Cream, an H hook and a yarn needle to tuck in ends. Finished Granny Dishcloth measures 8 1/2"square. 



 Directions: With Color A, ch 5, join with sl st to form ring. Rnd One - Ch 5, [work 3 dc in ring, ch 2] three times; work 2 dc in ring and join round with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5 (do not turn work at any time). 

 Rnd Two -Sl st into next ch, ch 5, work 3 dc in same space, [ch 2, in next ch space work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] three times; ch 2, work 2 dc in next corner space and join rnd with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5; end off. 

 Rnd Three - Attach Color B with a sl st in any corner ch space, ch 5, work 3 dc in same space, [ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch 2 space, ch 2, in next corner space work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] three times; ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch 2 space, ch 2; work 2 dc in next corner space and join rnd with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5. 

 Rnd Four - Sl st into next ch, ch 5, work 3 dc in same space, [ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch space, dc in each of next two dc, work 2 dc in next ch sp, ch2, in next corner space work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] 3 times; ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch sp, dc in each of next two dc, work 2 dc in next ch sp, ch 2; in next corner sp work 2 dc and join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5; end off. 

 Rnd Five - Attach Color C with a sl st in any corner ch space, ch 5, work 3 dc in same space, [ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch space, dc in each dc across (in this row dc in each dc means the next two dc, in the next row this same direction will mean the next 6 dc and so on), work 2 dc in next ch sp, ch 2, in next corner space work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] 3 times; ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch sp, dc in each dc across, work 2 dc in next ch sp, ch 2; in next corner sp work 2 dc and join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5. 

 Rnds Six and Seven - Repeat Rnd Five, changing colors at the end of Rnd Six to Color D, do not end off. 

 Edging - Continuing with same color, sl st in next ch, ch 1, sc in same corner sp, ch 2; *[work sc decrease over next two dc (sc decrease is worked by inserting hook in next st or space and drawing up a loop, insert hook into next st or space and draw up another loop, YO and take off all three loops on hook), ch 2; sc decrease over next dc and ch 2 space, ch 2; work sc decrease in same sp and next dc, ch 2 ; [work sc dec over next two dc, ch 2] across row then dec over last dc and next sp, ch 2; dec in same sp and next dc, ch 2; dec over next two dc, ch 2; [sc in corner sp, ch 2] twice; repeat from * around, ending with sc in last corner space, ch 2 andjoin rnd with sl st in beg sc; end off. I did a double bed sized one. I kept going until it fit the top of the bed. I had to add rows at the top and bottom. Then crocheted along the sides using single crochet. Very warm and colorful
