Scallop-Edged Scrunchie

Scallop-Edged Scrunchie
@ 2002 by Cathy Hansen

Use whatever yarn you like for this scrunchie, along with the appropriate hook size. In the sample photo, I used worsted weight acrylic yarn with a "G" aluminum hook.

To begin: Sc around an elastic hair tie (about 30 sc).

Row 1: *Ch 3, sl st in next sc.* Repeat from * to * around; join with sl st in first ch of beginning ch 3.

Row 2: Sl st in next ch 3 sp; ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), dc in same ch 3 space, ch 2, (dc, ch 2, dc, ch 2) in each ch 3 sp around; join with sl st in third ch of first ch 5.

Row 3: Sl st in next ch 2 sp; ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2),dc in same ch 2 space, sc in next dc; *(dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch 2 sp; sc in next dc*; repeat from * to * around; join with sl st in third ch of first ch 5.

Row 4: (Optional: change to contrasting color for this round.) Ch 1, sc in joining st, 3 sc in next ch 2 sp, sc in next dc, sl st in next sc, *sc in next dc, 3 sc in next ch 2 sp, sc in next dc, sl st in next sc*, repeat from * to * around; join with sl st in first sc.

End off and weave in ends.
