long side (side where single loops between clusters appear) as follows: 1st row: In each single loop between clusters make dc, ch 2 and dc. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: * 3 sc in next sp, skip next 2 dc, Sc in next sp, in same sp make (ch 5, 5 c) 3 times; skip next 2 dc. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.

FRINGED GENTIAN No.8635...

Make a chain slightly longer than desired length.

1st row: Sc in 18th ch from hook, * ch 10, skip 7 ch, Sc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.

2nd row: 17 sc in 1st ch-1O loop, * 4 sc in next loop, ch 4, drop loop from hook, insert hook in 5th sc of previous loop (counting from end of loop) and draw loop through, 3 sc in ch-4 loop just completed, ch 4, sc in 4th ch from hook (a picot made), 3 sc in ch-4 loop, 4 sc in ch-10 loop, ch 12, drop loop from hook, insert hook in 9th sc of ch-10 loop (counting from end of loop as before) and draw loop through; in ch-12 loop make (3 sc, p) 5 times and 3 sc. 8 sc in incompleted ch-10 loop; 4 sc in next loop, ch 4. drop loop from hook, insert hook in 5th sc of previous loop (counting from end of loop) and draw loop through, 3 sc in ch-4 loop just completed, p, 3 sc in ch-4 loop, 12 sc in ch-10 loop.

Repeat from * across. Fasten off.

JAPANESE LANTERN No.8634... Edging is done in individual Sections, joined together by heading and last row of scalloped edge. Starting at center of one section, ch 8. Joint with sl St.  1st rd: Ch 4, * dc in ring, ch 1. Repeat from * 12 more times.

Join last ch-1 with sl St to 3rd st of ch-4 first made.

Hereafter, work in rows, as follows:

1st row: SI St in sp, ch 4, 2 tr in same sp holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, thread over and draw through all loops on hook "a cluster made; * ch 3, 3 tr in next sp

holding back on hook the last loop of each tr and complete a cluster as before, ch 3, skip next dc and sp; in next dc  make cluster, ch 3 and cluster; ch 3, skip next sp and dc,
cluster in next sp, ch 3, cluster in next sp. Ch 1, turn.

2nd row: Sc in tip of 1st cluster, 3 sc in each of next 2 sps, 5 sc in next sp, 3 sc in each of next 2 sps. Fasten off.  Make necessary number of sections.

Now work heading as follows: Attach thread to 3rd free dc  following cluster, ch 3-to Count as d c, * half dc in next sp, (sc in next dc, sc in next sp) twice; sc in next dc,

half dc in next sp, dc in next dc, ch 5, dc in 3rd free dc -following cluster on next section. Repeat from * across.  Fasten off. Work scalloped edge as follows: Attach thread to

1st sc, * (ch 4, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc) 8 times, sc in 1st sc of next section. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.

JASMINE No.8637... Starting at one narrow end, ch 6.

1st row: In 6th ch from hook make 3 dc with ch-2 between. Ch 5, turn.

2nd row: In center dc make 3 dc with ch-2 between. Ch 5,  turn.

Repeat the 2nd row for desired length. Do not turn at end of last row but work heading across one long side as follows: * Sc in next ch-5 loop, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last loop. Fasten off.

SCALLOPED EDGE - Attach thread to 1St ch-5 loop, 3 sc in loop, * ch 4, sc in 4th ch from hook, (ch 4, sc in same place as last Sc) twice --3 picots made, 3 sc in same ch-5

loop, ch 2, 3 sc in next ch-5 loop. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 sc, 3 p's and 3 sc in last loop. Fasten off.
