G hook

Red Heart worsted weight yarn

  Main, a variegated color

  A to match main

  B to match main.


Stitches used:

Slip stitch= s/s
Single crochet = sc
Double crochet = dc

Font Post Stitch (FPS)~~~~Working in front row just make, yo, inset hook from front to back and front again around the vertical post of stitch below, , yo (three loops on hook) and draw thread through two loops on hook, yo, draw through two loops on hook. One loop remains. Fps completed  

Back Post Stitch (BPS)~~~working in back of row just make, yo, insert hook from back to front and to back again around the vertical post of stitch below, yo (three loops on hook) and draw thread through two loops on hook, yo, draw through two loops on hook. One loop remains. Bps completed.

Rd 1: with main, ch 3, 8 sc in 3rd chain from hook, join.

Rd 2: ch 1, 2 sc in same place, * 2 sc in each sc around, join. ( 16 st. )

Rd 3: ch 1, 2 sc in same place, * 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next* repeat from * to * around, join, (24 st ).

Rd 4: ch 1, 2 sc in same place, * 1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next * repeat from * to * around, join, (32 st ).

Rd 5: ch 1, 2 sc in same place, * 1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next * repeat from * to * around, end 1 sc in last 3 sc, join, ( 40 st ).

Now:

  With color B, dec 1st, by crocheting 2 st. together repeat round 7.

  With Color B, repeat rd. 12

With main Repeat rounds 9 and 10. Fasten off main.

 
Ribbing:

Rd 1: with B, ch 2, 1 dc in same place and in each sc around.

Ch, 6 ds, 3 p sep by 2 ds, 6 ds. turn.

*R, 4 ds, join to last p of last r, 2 ds, p, 4 ds, cl r, turn.  Ch, 6 ds, 3 p sep by 2 ds, 6 ds, turn.
Repeat from * once.

R, 4 ds, join to last p of last r, 2 ds, join to free p of 1st r, 4 ds, cl r, do not turn.

 Row 1: ch 4 or 5, join, ch 3, (1 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) into loop, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, skip first dc, 1 dc in back loop of next dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2dc) in ch-3 sp, 1 dc in back loop of next dc, 1 dc in back loop of 3rd ch of turning chain,  turn.

Row 3: Ch 3, skip first dc, 1 dc in back loop of each dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in ch-3 sp, 1 dc in back loop of each dc, with last dc in back loop of 3rd chain of turning chain, turn.

Repeat row 3 for length desired, with 4 dc added in each row.

Last row: ch 3, 1 dc in back loop of each dc, 6 dc in 3 ch sp, 1 dc in back loop of each dc, with last dc in back loop of 3rd ch of turning ch, fasten off for sample.

Or you can use cotton yarn and keep going added 4 dc's each row until you have a dishcloth the size you would like.
