Brynn and her cadaver dog Wilco, both injured in an IED explosion head back home to her gipsy clan roots in the Appalachian Mountains and ugly memories, drug runners, rape and murder.

Amazing characters and lots of action. The book just kept getting better and better. I never saw the end coming.

This book is the first in a new series called Bone Gap Travellers Mystery.

If you read just one book this year. Splintered Silence by Susan Furlong should be it.

This is a new author to me and I loved it. He pulls you into the story with his descriptive writing style.

Set in the 1800 Rocky mountains an army scout "Hawk" is hired by a man looking for his younger brother and his wife. They set out fearing that Indians have killed them.

Fast paced, lively characters, old fashioned cattle thieves, murder, bar fight shot outs and more will keep you reading late into the night.

This is the first in a series called John Hawk Westerns and I am looking forward to the next one coming out in May of 2018.

Sample A     The Rose Stitch

Based on any amount of chains

For sample chain 20

Work a row of single crochet on the found ch, 1 ch, turn.

Row 1: * Work 1 sc inserting hook under both horizontal loops of each st of previous row. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat row 1 for pattern until desired length.

Sample B     The Ridge Stitch

Based on any amount of chains

For sample, chain 17.

Work a row of single crochet on the found ch, 1 ch, turn.

Row 1: * Work 1 sc, inserting hook into back loop of each st of previous row,  1 ch. turn.

Repeat row 1 for pattern until desired length.

Sample C   The Russian Stitch

Based on any amount of chairs

For sample chain 20

This is just like the Rose Stitch, but you cut the yarn or thread at the end of each row and reattach yarn or thread at the beginning next row.

Work a row of single crochet on the found ch, 1 ch, turn.

Row 1: * Work 1 dc inserting hook under both horizontal loops of each st of previous row. Cut yarn or thread, do not turn. 

Repeat row 1 for pattern until desired length.

This is a wonderful book for learning the basic skills or relearning what you have forgotten on the mid-gauge machines. It has a great section on making buttonholes and swatching using a standard ruler or the yellow ruler that comes with the machine.

Each lesson is very clear and easy to understand with step by step directions. The patterns that come with each lesson will help you learn each new technique. Some of the patterns have variations, so you will have lots to make from them. I love the way each lesson and the techniques that go with them are set up.

This book will help you learn all about the buttons on your carriage like how to do plating, slip stitch, tuck, lace, tuck lace. Even has a section on short rowing with patterns to help you learn about each. This must have book for your knitting library picks up where your manual leaves off.

The Hurdle Stitch

Multiples of 2

Row 1: Knit each stitch across row, turn.

Row 2: same as row 1, turn.

Row 3: * K 1, P 1 *  repeat from * to * across row, turn.

Row 4: * K 1, P 1 *  repeat from * to * across row, turn.

Repeat rows 1 to 4 for pattern, end with row 4.

Another one of the patterns I had made for my daughter when she was a baby. It's fast and easy. Enjoy



Materials:

4 ply yarn

size 4 knitting needles

36 inches of ½ ribbon, cut in half.

 

Cast on 26 stitches

Row 1: K2, P2,

Row 2: P2,  K2, for 1 inch, inc 1 stitch after the last row of ribbing. (27 stitches).

Row 3: Beading row: * K1, yo, k 2 tog.  repeat from * across row.

Rows 4, 6, 8: purl

Rows 5, 7: knit

Work Instep:

K 9, place last 9 stitches just knit on holder, knit to end of row, turn, 

P 9, place these 9 stitches on holder and work to end of row.   Work 16 rows on center 9 stitches, ending with a purl row. Cut yarn, turn.

Work Foot: 

K 9 stitches from holder, pick up and knit 8 stitches from side of instep, k 9 center sts, pick up and k 8 on side of instep, k 9 sts from holder. (43 stitches).

Work even (p 1 row, k 1 row) for 6 rows, ending with k row.

Decease row:

Row 1: p 1, p 2 tog, p16, p 2 tog, p1, p2 tog, p to last 3 stitches,  p2 tog., p 1. (39 stitches)

Row 2: knit

Row 3: p 1, p 2 tog, p 14, p 2 tog, p 1, p 2 tog, purl to last 3 stitches, p 2 tog, p 1. (35 stitches)

Finishing:

 Bind off, sew seams, run ribbon thru beading rows on booties.
