March 2016 Pattern of the Month Knit

 Yellow Ski Hat # 2

Materials needed:

Size 4 and 7 circular Knitting needles

1 set size 7 double pointed needles

1 row or round counter

3 oz main (I used yellow) worsted weight yarn

about 1 ½ oz of two different variegated colors marked 1 and 2, worsted weight yarn

about 1 ½ oz a solid color ( I used Pale Blue) worsted weight yarn

Note: I used needle tip protectors to keep the stitches from fallen off when I changed to the double pointed needles.

Using size 4 circular Knitting needles, cast on 100 stitches, join being careful not to twist the stitches. Use the row counter to mark end of rows.

Round 1: Knit

Rounds 2 to 6:  K 2, P 2 around.

Rounds 7 to 9: drop yellow, change to size 7 circular Knitting needles, attach variegated 1, and Knit. After round 9, fasten off variegated and pick up yellow.

Round 10: Knit

Round 11: Knit

Round 12: Purl

Round 13: Knit.

Rounds 14 to 16: drop main, attach variegated 2, Knit.

Round 17: with variegated Purl.

Rounds 18 & 19 with variegated Knit.

Round 20: fasten off variegated 2, pick up Yellow and Knit.

Round 21: Knit

Round  22: Purl

Rounds 23 to 24: Knit, after round 24, attach Pale Blue, do no fasten off yellow.

Round 25: with Pale Blue k1, with Yellow Knit 1 around.

Rounds 26 to 29: repeat round 25. After round 29, fasten off Pale Blue.

Rounds 30-31-32: with Yellow Knit.

Round 33: Purl

Round 34: with Yellow Knit, do not fasten off.

Round 35: attach variegated 2 and Knit.

Round 36: Knit, but decease 1 stitch every 7^th. Change to double pointed needles when needed.

Round 37: Purl

Round 38: Knit

Round 39: Knit, after row 39, fasten off variegated 2.

Round 40: with yellow, Knit, but decease 1 stitch every 6^th.

Round 41:  Knit.

Round 42: with yellow, Purl.

Round 43: with Yellow Knit

Round 44: with Yellow Knit, drop yellow

Round 45: attach variegated 1, Knit

Round 46: Knit, but decease 1 stitch every 5^th.

Round 47:  Knit, fasten off variegated 1 after round 47, pick up Yellow

Round 48: with Yellow Knit

Round 49: Knit,   but decease 1 stitch every 4^th.

Round 50: Purl

Round 51: Knit, but decease 1 stitch every 3^th.

Round 52: Knit

Round 53: Knit, but decease 1 stitch every 2^th.

Round 54: Knit

Round 55: Knit 2 together around, run yarn needle through remaining stitches and draw up tight.
