Lace
Scarf @2008 by N.L. Banks
Materials:
One Pair size 10
Knitting needles, 3 markers, 1 row counter.
Yarn: 2 skeins DK (double knitting) weight yarn, One ball Patons Cha Cha to match yarn.
Note: This pattern is written out for beginners to lace knitting. The center marker is a second repeat of the pattern. Use the row counter to count PATTERNS ROWS. This way when you put your knitting down, you will always know which row of the pattern to start on.
Using the Cha Cha, CO 28
Knit 6 or 8 rows. Fasten off. Attach main yarn.
Set up row:
K1, P1, K1, Place marker, (RS): K1, P2, K5, P2, K 1, Place marker, K1, P2, K5, P2, K 1, Place marker, K1, P1, K1.
Start with row 2 of Pattern.
Stitch Patten:
Row 1: (RS): K1, P1, K1, slip marker (sm) as you come to them. K1, P2, K5, P2, K 1, (sm) K1, P2, K5, P2, K 1, (sm) K1, P1, K1,
Row 2: K1, P1, K1,(sm) K3, P5, K3, (sm), K3, P5, K3, (sm), K1, P1, K1,
Row 3: K1, P1, K1, (sm) K1, P2, K2 tog, yo (bring yarn under the needle, then back over the needle), K1, yo, sIip 1, K1, psso (pass the slip stitch over the stitch just knitted), P2, K1, (sm), K1, P2, K2 tog, yo, K1, yo, sIip 1, K1, psso, P2, K1, (sm), K1, P1, K1
Row 4: K1, P1, K1, (sm) K3, P5, K3, (sm) K3, P5, K3. (sm), K1, P1, K1
Repeat rows 1 ~ 4 for Pattern stitch until you have most of the yarn knitted up, (end with row 4 of pattern), fasten off, attach the Cha Cha, and knit another 6 to 8 rows, fasten off.
Weave in the ends of the yarn.
