Amy's Woven Scarf

Amy's Woven Scarf

This is another weaving project that I just finished. A Red, Blue and Black woven scarf for my daughter Amy in her favorite colors. The Caron Simply Soft weaves beautifully and it's wash and dry in the machines!



Yarns used:
Caron Simply Soft Harvest Red 9763 H9003  2 skeins

Caron Simply Soft  Royal Sparkle Blue  about 1/2 skein







I Love This Yarn  Black  about 1/2 skein

I used these yarns for both the warp and weft

Length of warp 125 inches
Warp ends 70        7.5  Reed
35 warp ends each side of center. 
Fringe 4 inches




Warping starting on left as you face the loom:
 6 red, 4 blue, 6 red, 2 black, 2 red, 2 black, 32 red, 4 black, 2 blue, 4 black, 6 red.

Pick up Stick pattern:
over 6, under 1 across
   rows 1 to 7 plain weave
   row 8  Heddle in natural, stick forward and on edge, weave one row, push stick back


Hemstitch bottom after about 10 to 15 rows.

Steps: 
1. Red weave 10 rows plain, then row 8 of pick up stick pattern
   then 3 repeats of pick stick pattern.
  
2. Blue:
    weave 3 repeats of pick up stick pattern

3. Red:
    weave 3 repeats of pick up stick pattern

4. Black:
    weave 3 repeats of pick up stick pattern

5. Red:
    weave 3 repeats of pick up stick pattern



Repeat from 1 until you have done about 75 inches.

Then work steps 1 and 2 again. Then step 1. Hemstitch and remove from loom. Tie fringe in groups of 3 or 4 on both ends. Trim to 4 inches.

Multiples of 3, for Afghan chain 15, chain dishcloth, chain 27.

Row 1, 1 sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across , ch 3, turn.

Row 2  1 dc in next  sc, * ch 1, skip 1 sc, 1 dc in each of next 2 sc, repeat from * across row, ch 1, turn.

Row 3  1 sc in each dc, and in each ch-1 space across, end 1 sc  in top of turning ch, chain 3, turn.

Repeat rows 2 & 3 for pattern. 9 rows for afghan and until square

for dishcloth. (you will have for afghan square 4 rows of dc)

Materials:
Size 10 knitting needles
1 ball Bernat Satin Sport Weight yarn in Rose Rose
1 ball Lion brand Fancy Fur in Pretty in Pink
1 row counter

With the sport and fur held together cast on 26 stitches.

Rows 1 to 7 knit.  After row 7 fasten off the fancy fur, and continue  with just the Sport weight.

Rows 1 and 2: Knit.



Row 3: K6, *[yo] 2 times, k1, [yo] 3 times, k1, [yo] 4 times, k1, [yo] 3 times, k1, [yo] 2 times, k6; rep from *.

Row 4: *K6, drop 2 yo off left needle, k1, drop 3 yo, k1, drop 4 yo, k1, drop 3 yo, k1, drop 2 yo; rep from * to last 6 sts, k6.

Rows 5 and 6: Knit.

Row 7: K1, *[yo] 2 times, k1, [yo] 3 times, k1, [yo] 4 times, k1, [yo] 3 times, k1, [yo] 2 times, k6; rep from *, ending last rep k1 instead of k6.

Row 8: K1, *drop 2 yo off left needle, k1, drop 3 yo, k1, drop 4 yo, k1, drop 3 yo, k1, drop 2 yo, k6; rep from *, ending last rep k1 instead of k6.

Rep Rows 1-8 until you have completed  23 repeats of the pattern. (count the open lace work from the side).

Now repeat rows 1 and 2.

Attach the 7 the fancy fur and with both yarns knit 7 rows. Bind off, weave in the yarn ends.

Materials:
       5 oz/ 140 gr/275 yd skein;, any color,
       1 skein eyelash yarn,  
        two markers.
   Size 11 knitting needles







Cast on 23

Using both yarns together, set up row:  k3, pm, k 17, pm, k3 and  knit total of 6 row, drop eyelash, and start pattern:


Row 1 (RS):  K3,   P 2, *YO, k 1, yo, p 2; rep from * across to last marker, k3

Row 2: k3, (edge stitch) K 2, * p 3, k 2: rep from * across to last marker, k3

Row 3: k3, (edge stitch) P 2, * k 3, p 2; rep from * across to last marker, k3

Row 4: k3, (edge stitch) K 2, * p3 tog, k 2; rep from * across to last marker, k3.

Knit 16 rows of pattern.

Knit 6 rows with both yarns.

Knit 12 rows of pattern.

Knit 6 rows with both yarns.

Knit 16 rows of pattern.

Knit 6 rows with both yarns, bind off.

Expression Scarf

The Scarf has lace stitches,  twisted stitches and a center cable. Not a beginner pattern, but not really hard to knit. Just knit and purls with yarn overs. Several stitches used are explain below. The Scarf is appox. 60 inches long and 8 inches wide. The yarn used is very very soft.

Please read the notes before starting scarf.





Materials: 
1 row counter   
8 Stitch markers     
size 8 knitting needles 
Expression Fiber Arts Alpaca Silk DK in Champagne   1 1/2  skeins


Notes: 
PM = place markers
SM  = slip markers as you come to them

Twisted Stitch 2:  TS 2
skip 1 stitch, but DO NOT remove it from the left hand needle, knit the next stitch, the new loop is on the right hand needle, now knit the first stitch that you skipped, it is now on the right hand needle and just let the two stitches on the left hand needle drop., This is done every front row. The back side of the stitch is purled. 

Cable over 6:  C6
slip 3 stitches to the cable needle and hold at front of work, K 3, then knit the 3 stitches from the cable needle. The back side of the cable is purled.

Cast on 42 stitches.

Repeat rows 1 to 8 forty (40)  times then repeat row 1 once.

Knit 3 rows. Bind off, weave in the yarn ends. Block.

This can also be used as a wine bottle bag.

Materials:  Bernat cotton (I used a matte turquoise)

Hook:  5.00 mm

Stitches:  chain, single crochet, double crochet

Pattern:

1.     Ch 25, sc in 2nd st from hook and ea st to end, 3 sc in last st, sc in ea st of other side of foundation row, 3 sc in first stitch. Ch 1. Do not join with sl st.

2.     Sc in ea st to end, 3 sc in end st; sc down other side in ea st, 3 sc in first sc. Ch 2. Do not join with sl st.

3.     Dc in st totally around, DO NOT JOIN, until “bottle” is 10 inches tall.

4.     Dc in nx st, (ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in nx), rep around, DO NOT JOIN WITH SL ST.

5.     Dc in EACH st for 2 rounds, sl st to last st and fasten off.

Chain Ribbon:  you may substitute this for regular ribbon OR, ch 70, fasten off.  Be sure to tie ends in a knot so stitches don't fall away.

Materials:

1 Pair size 11 knitting needles

1 ball Bernat So-Soft in blue

1 ball Patons Coast in light blue

2 markers

1 row counter

Note: for help with this stitch, see January 2014 stitch of the month.

 
Cast on 32

With the Coast in light blue, Knit 5, place marker, knit 22, place marker, Knit 5

Rows 2 to 8 Knit, slipping markers as you come to them. Change to the Bernat So Soft after row 8.

Now start pattern:

Row 1: K5,  P2, * keeping the yarn in front of work, slip 1 purl wise, then taking the yarn over the needle, (hold your figure on the yo after the slipped stitch) K2 together, pass the slipped stitch over the yarn over and the 2 knitted tog,  yarn over twice, P2, repeat from *, end K 5.

Row 2:  K 5 slip marker *K 2, P 3, repeat from * across row. End k 5

Row 3: k 5, *P2, K 3, repeat from * across row, end k 5

Row 4: k 5, slip marker, *K 2, P 3, repeat from * across row, end k 5.

Repeat these 4 rows until you have a couple yards left. Then do row 1. Fasten off the So-Soft and attach the Coast in light blue. Knit 8 rows. Bind off; weave in the ends of yarn.
