Materials:

Peaches  Crème Yarn By Elmore-Pisgah, Inc. 2 balls White #1

1 skein Black Embroidery Floss

H hook

With 2 strands of white held together, ch 3 loosely, 11dc in 3rd chain from hook.

Rd 2 ch3, 2dc in same place, 2dc in next 3dc, turn. (9dc, ch 3 counts as 1dc)

Rd 3 ch 3, 2 dc in same place, 1dc in next dc, 2 dc in next, repeat across, turn. (13dc)

Rd 4 ch 3, 1 dc in same place, 1 dc in next 3dc, 2dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 6 dc, turn.

Rd 5 & 6 ch 3, 1 dc in same place, 1dc in next 9dc, turn.

Rd 7 ch 1, 1sc in same place, 1 dc in next 2dc, 3 tr (yo2x) in next dc, 1 hdc in next 2dc, 3tr (yo 2x) in next dc, 1 hdc in next 2dc, 1sc in last dc, fasten off.

With black floss, embroider two eyes on head.

Repeat for other three coasters.

This pattern can be worked with a 4 ply yarn or a 1 ply acrylic yarn.   Appx size 9 inches by 50 inches.

Materials:

Size 10 knitting needles

Row counter

Stitch markers

2 skeins 4 ply acrylic yarn (I used Caron one pounder in Pink)

 OR 3 or 4 skeins of a 1 ply yarn ( 200 grams.) for shawl

Note: If you have never worked a lace type project before, it would be easier for you if you used a very light colored yarn, (not a variegated one) and stitch markers between each group of stitches, (between the k 1, p1, k1, & the five open work stitches).

Cast on 67 for shawl or 27 for scarf

Seeding rows 1 to 3: K 1, P 1, across row.

Row 1:  * K 1, p1, k1, (place marker), k5, (place marker) *, repeat from * to * across row, end (place marker) K 1, p1, k1. Slip markers as you come  to them.

Row 2 & 4 K 1, p1, k1,  * p5, k 1, p1, k1 *, repeat from * to * across row, end k1, p1, k1.

Row 3:   * K 1, p1, k1, (slip next stitch to right hand needle,) 2x, insert left hand needle into the back loops of the two slipped stitches and move to the left needle, then k 2 tog, yo, k 1, yo, sl 1, k 1, psso*, repeat from * to * across row, end K 1, p1, k1.

Repeat rows 1 to 4 for length desired or 49 pattern repeats, then do row 1,

Finishing:

Seeding rows 1 to 3: K 1, P 1, across row, bind off. Weave in ends.

Row 1:  S1, * k 2, yo, S 1, k 1, psso, repeat frim * across row to last stitch, k 1

Row 2: S 1, * p2, yo, p 2 together, repeat from * across row to last stitch, k 1,

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until square or desired length.

PSSO  = pass slipped stitch over

Row one is the front side.

My Cinnamon Raisin bread machine recipe

In pan mix:
1 1/8 cups hot water
3T butter cut in chunks

In bowl mix well together:

3 cups bread flour
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
1 teaspoons salt
1 ½ Tablespoons dry milk
3 tablespoons sugar
1 cup raisins

Pour into pan, add to top of mixture, (do not stir in)
2 teaspoons yeast

Set machine to light setting and bake. Remove from pan, cool.

Materials:

Red Heart Super Saver in lilac
size 7 circular knitting needles1 Set size 7 double pointed knitting needles 

1 Rd marker

1 cable needle

39 markers, of which 7 are red ones.

Notes: slip markers as you come to them.  I used red markers after every 20 stitches, because it's easier to see where the pattern repeats start and end.  The pattern is a 20 stitch repeat.

With a long tail, cast on 100, join, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Rd 1, 3: knit

Rd 2, 4: purl

Rd 5: * k 2, pm, k 1, pm, k 5, pm, k 1, pm, k 4, pm, k 1, pm, k 5, pm, k 1, place red marker, * repeat from * to * around.

Rd 6: * k 2, p 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 3, p 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 2, p 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 3,p 1, * repeat around from *  around.

Rd 7: * p 3, k 5, p 1, k 4, p 1, k 5, p 1, repeat from * around. This is the inside of hat.

Rd 5: knit to 2 stitches before marker, k 2 tog.

Rd 6: knit.

Repeat rounds 5 and 6 until 2 stitches remain between markers. Turn hat inside out and run needles though remaining stitches and draw up tight, run though again. Cut ends, weaves ends of yarn in.

White scarf is made with Paton's Divine and the Lilac is Red Heart yarn 

Materials:

1 ball Divine by Patons  any light color ( I used Halo Blue) appx.  9 inch wide by 45 long. 1 pair size 13 knitting needles

 OR

Red Heart Super Saver in lilac and size 11 knitting needles appx. 6 inch by 54 long.

1 row marker

1 cable needle

8 markers

Notes: slip markers as you come to them. You will always have 22 stitches on the needles.

Cast on 22

Row 1: k 2, pm, k 1, pm, k 5, pm, k 1, pm, k 4, pm, k 1, pm, k 5, pm, k 1, pm, k 2.

Row 2: knit

Row 3: k 2, p 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 3, p 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 2, p 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 3,p 1, k 2.

New Scarf for me

 My Woven Scarf

                             

                        The picture above is before I cut the fringe. 

                         Finished length 72 inches and 7 inches wide

I decided I wanted to make a new woven scarf for me.  I have made them for most of my family and now I want one for myself. I am using about 2 balls of Lion brand Mandala in Wood Nymph.   It's has wonderful 

shades of light rose, rose, lavender, a brownish rose, and cream. It's an acrylic yarn, machine wash and dry, and very easy to weave with and I have used it before.

I wanted the scarf to be about 7 ½ inches wide and 75 inches long with added 4 inch fringe at each end. So I needed 64 warp ends each 116 inches long.  I am using a 7.5 dent reed. This is a pick up stick pattern that I am using, 2 up, 2 down.

I marked the center of my reed and measured from the center out on each side 3 ¼ inches, and counted to make sure I had 64 slots and holes. I tied a string in the center and one at each end for the width of 7 ½ inches. I then started warping from the left and worked my way to the right side. I checked to make sure my warping peg stayed at the 116 inches away from the back beam of the loom.

The picture below shows the pickup stick weave I am using and the rows between them.  Using a pick up stick and Heddle in the down position, start from the right side of the loom and pick under 2 warp ends and over 2 warp ends across the warp behind the heddle. Push stick to back.

1. weave about 10 to 15 rows with a waste yarn, or use cardboard sticks to open up the warp threads and separate them, this warp yarn will be your fringe when you are done.  Separating and opening them up them makes it easier to weave.  See picture C below.

This is from a scarf I did for my granddaughter but you can see what I mean.

1. Leaving a tail of about 3 times the width loom ( this long tail will be used to do a hem stitch after weaving 10 rows.)  I use a tape measure to keep track of my weaving so I know how long it is. You can see it on the picture B.   Make sure your shuttle is on the left to start weaving. This weaving pattern starts on the left, so make sure your shuttle is on the left after weaving the 10 plain rows, if it's not, weave one more row. Shuttle on left side. 

2. Now do the hemstitch across the loom at the start of the weaving, if the end of the yarn is too long after the hemstitching, cut it off but leave at least 10 inches to tie into the fringe later. 


3. Now start pattern as follows: 
Note:  When you weave row 7, the yarn is under the warp ends on the right. ( Picture D ) On row 8, watch the edge stitch on the right, you must weave over it to make the pattern come out right. 

( Picture E below.)  I just pick it up with my fingers, held it and weave over it to the left.

The picture above shows the Pick up stick pattern.

Now repeat these 10 rows for a total of 4 times, then 
rows 1 to 4 once.
Now weave 10 rows of plain, ending again on the left side of the loom.

Weave these rows until you are almost to 65 inches. Then weave the full the pattern one more time and end with 10 rows of plain weave. Then finish will a hem stitch and remove from loom but make sure you leave about as much fringe as you can a good 6 inches and tie off the fringe at each end with about 4 to 5 threads each. Do an over hand knot and move it as close as you can to the end of the scarf.  Wash, lay flat to dry. After it's dry, weave in the lose ends and cut the fringe to 4 inches. I love this yarn because after you finished it, you can just toss it in the washer and them the dryer.
