Raised Half Double Crochet

Raised Half Double Crochet (R hdc)
First example is on a foundation row of half double crochets, (has hook in it)
Yarn over hook, insert hook from front to back to front around the stem of the stitch in the row below, yarn over hook, pull up loop, complete as a half double crochet.
These are like post stitches, you can also work this same type of stitch doing single crochet.
The second example shows the R hdc, using double crochet as the foundation row.
Notice how the back looks, you can use this stitch showing front or back, depending on the affect you want to show. Like the group pillow we did, I used the back of the post stitches (double back post stitch) on the front of the pillow. It will make a edge on the front, if you do three or four rows.
Try it and see how it shows. This is great for a textured affect on pillows, the bottom of sweaters for ribbing, etc.

This is the third in the series, I've read the second one. (Sleigh Bells for dry Creek and Lilac Wedding in Dry Creek) If you haven't read any of the Return to Dry Creek series, you're missing out. It's almost like you are right there with them. Beautiful love story, great ending, great characters. Loved it.

This pattern uses Elmore-Pisgah's Double Worsted Weight Yarn.
You can use two strands of yarn together in place of the double worsted weight yarn.
Stitches used:
Double Crochet = dc Front Post Stitch = FPS Back Post Stitch = BPS
Row:1 ch 32, 1 dc in 3rd ch form hook, skip 1 ch, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc in next ch, slip 1 ch, *1dc in next ch, skip 1 ch, 1 dc, ch, 1 dc in next ch (shell made) repeat from * across row, end
slip 1 ch, 1 dc in last 2dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row: 2 FPS around first dc, * in next 2 ch sp, work 1 dc, ch 1 dc, (shell made- shell over shell) FPS around next dc, repeat from* across row, end FPS around next dc, 1 dc in last dc, ch3, turn.
