Ann's Barrette @2004 By BarbaraAnn Couturier
Materials:
Approximately 1 ounce of 4 ply worsted weight yarn
56 pony beads
3 inch 3 piece barrette taken apart
Yarn needle
G crochet hook
(Chain 3 counts as 1 dc)
Thread the 56 pony beads onto the yarn with a yarn needle. Push them down the yarn as you work until they are needed.
Attach yarn to barrette with a sl st, then work 8 sc across the barrette. Barrette will not be full at this point.
Rnd 1: Turn, ch 3 and 4 dc in front loop first st, 3 dc in front loop of next 6 sts, 5 dc in front loop of next st. Working in unused loops, 5 dc in next st, 3 dc in next 6 sts, 5 dc in last st. Join with sl st to join. (56 dc)
You can now put the barrette back
together.
Rnd 2: Ch 3 and 1 dc in first st, 2 dc in each stitch to end. Join with sl st. (112 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, sl pony bead up to hook and ch 3, sc in next st, ch 6, sc in next st. Continue this all around barrette.
Join with sl st in first sc. Hold the barrette upside down grasping the metal part and shake to fluff.
If you want a fuller barrette you can start with 12 sts on the barrette. Remember, you will need more pony beads, 80.

This is a place for my knitting, sewing, crochet designs and projects. I have been knitting since I was 4, and crocheting since age 19 and I have starting weaving again, along with sewing. So this is where I will be posting those patterns too.
