Popcorn can cover

This is a foot strool I made, no pattern just measured the popcorn can and made it to fit. First the top, and I made two covers for it, one for the can, then one for the bottom of the pillow, and then the top of the pillow. Made the piping out of the same material I used for the can base, turned out pretty I think.

Rows 1 and 3-wrong side-K 2, * p 4, k 1, p 4, k 4; repeat from *, end last repeat k 2.

Row 2-P 2, * yo, SKP, k 2, p 1, k 2, k 2 tog., yo, p 4; repeat from *, end last repeat p 2.

Row 4-P 2, * k 1, yo, SKP, k 1, p 1, k 1, k 2 tog., yo, k 1, p 4; repeat from *, end last repeat p 2.

Rows 5 and 7-P 6, * k 1, p 12; repeat from *, end last repeat p 6.

Row 6-K 4, * yo, SKP, p 1, k 2 tog., yo, k 8; repeat from *, end last repeat k 4.

Row 8-K 5, * yo, sl 1, k 2 tog., pass sl st over the k 2 tog., yo, k 10; repeat from *, end last repeat k 5.

Repeat rows 1 to 8 until desired length, bind off after in pattern after row 8.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Free Apron Sewing pattern

 

Easy Apron

Need a quick and easy project for that favorite someone?? This apron will take about 3 hours from start to finish and uses a 4x4 hoop.  My daughter loves bird houses, so is for her. One size fits all, but you can
cut the ties shorter if needed.

 

You will need:

5/8 yard (45 inches wide) of a main color fabric (A)

¼ yard for a flower fabric to match above ( B)

1 piece 8 x 8 white material

1 piece 8 x 8 iron on stabilizer

Thread to match A, threads for design (I changed some of the colors so that they would look better with my fabric for A)

1 large safety pin.

Note: use a ¼ seam allowance  (picture one)

 

Iron stabilizer to 8x8 white fabric, set aside.

From top of A, cut 2 - 3 inch wide strips (45 inches long each). (for ties and band) Rest is apron.

Sew around each piece of fabric and the white material with a zic zac stitch.

       Sew short ends together of the two 3 inch wide strips you
       cut, press seam flat. This is the band and ties.  Mark 10 inches
      each side of the center seam. See picture one.

Sew the ties shut from this mark to end, leaving the ends open for turning. Repeat for other end. Press seams flat.

Fasten safety pin at one end of tie (see pictures two, three and four) insert pin into tie tube and push pin to center, pulling out the tie. See picture four. ( The open center is for the apron) Repeat for other tie. Press seams flat. 
 

At this point you can shorten the ties by holding the band and ties centered in front of you, and tie, if too long, cut the ends to the length you need.

 

Turn down ¼ inch on each side of center of the band and press flat. Set aside.  See picture 5

With right sides together, sew Fabric B to bottom of apron. Press seam down.

Hem: Turn up ¼ inch at bottom of apron, press, turn up again, press, and sew in place. Sew side seams them same way. Set aside. See pictures 6 and 7.

Stitch your design on the 8x8 white material, this is the pocket on the apron.  When done, turn under ¼ inch around the pocket, press. Then turn down the top  again, press. Sew across the top of the pocket only for now. Pin the pocket on the apron 4 ½ from the side, and 7 ½ from the top below the gathering. Sew sides and  bottom of pocket. See apron at top of page.

          

 Finishing:

 

Gather top of apron and pin to center opening on the open part of the band, sew with ¼ seam. Remove gathering threads, press seam up. Pin back of tie to apron to cover the gathering and sew in place. Sew ends of ties closed. And you are done.

Notes:

1. I do not use a ¼ inch pressure foot; I use the right
side of my sewing foot.

 

2. Seam allow ¼ inch.

 

3. Makes a large mug or mat about 8 inches square.

 

   

Materials:

1:    9 ½ inch square for backing, cut 4

2:    9 ½ inch square for batting,  cut 4

3:    4 ½ inch center square          cut 4   (I used the Santa Claus)

4:    2 inch x 4 ½ inch strips         cut 8   ( I used green)

5:    2 inch x 7  inch strips            cut 8   ( I used green)

6:    2 inch x 7 inch strips             cut 8   ( I used the red floral)

7:    2 inch x 9 ¾ inch strips         cut 8   ( I used the red floral)

8:    5 yards 2 inch wide binding.

As the last rays of sunlight kiss
The mountains tops, they cause
Long shadows to move across
The Valley, leaving an eerie
Darkness in the afterglow.

I ride silently in the early
Twilight, moving slowing, down
Into that Valley, where my
Heart is lingering still, in
A world I used to know.

The breeze, blowing gentle through the
Pines, the beauty of a lazy moving river,
The smell of coffee at my campfire,

The smoke, curling upwards from the
Dying embers of my campfire, bring
Memories of the lonely cry of
Timber Wolves, as geese fly

In trees nearby, a Hawk Owl is calling
For it's mate, I pour more coffee and
Listen to the beauty of the wind, and turn
In time to see, a Buck, standing
Gracefully and not far away, the Doe.

Row 1: wrong side–Work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, and 1 dc in each chain across row.

(Note–To work dc around post of dc from front, yo, insert hook from front to back in space before dc, then from back to front on other side of same dc, yo and draw up a loop, yo and through 2 loops, yo and through 2 loops–top of st is left free. To work dc around post of dc from back, yo, insert hook from back to front in space before dc, then from front to back on other side of same dc and work a dc–top of st is left free. )

Row 2: Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc around post of each of next 3 dc from front, * 1 dc around post of each of next 3 dc from back, 1 dc around post of each of next 3 dc from front; repeat from * across row. 1 dc in top of turning ch.

For pattern, repeat row 2 until square or desired length.

MATERIALS:

J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5:  2 balls of No. 1

   White and 1 ball of No. 48 Hunter's Green, or

J.& P. Coats "Knit-Cro-Sheen": 1 ball each of No. 1 White and No. 48 Hunter's Green, and J.& P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, Size 30:

SMALL BALL:

J.& P. Coats ~ 1 ball of No. 9 Yellow, or

CLARK'S O.N.T. ~ 1 ball of No 9 Yellow, or J. & P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, Size 30: 1 ball of No. 9 Yellow, or

Clark's Big Ball Three Cord Mercerized Crochet, Size 30:  1 ball of No. 9 Yellow.

Steel Crochet Hooks No. 7 and 10.

A bridal garter.

GLADIOLA (Make 3)    

Starting at center with White, ch 10. Join with sl st to form a ring.

FIRST PETAL . .. 1st rd: Ch 10, Sc in 2nd ch from hook, Sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 4 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, Sc in ring. Make 5 more Petals in same manner. Break off.

2nd rd: Attach White to last Sc and work around Petal as follows: * Holding hack on hook the last loop of each dc, make a de in next 3 sts, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (2 dc decreased), dc in next 2 sts, half dc in next 2 sts, Sc in next 2 sts, at tip make Sc, ch 3 and sc; Sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, dec 2 dc, Sc in the Sc between Petals. Repeat from * around remaining petals. Join and break off.

BUD (Make 5) . . .

1st row: With White, ch 4, in 4th ch from book make 2 dc and 1 tr. Cb 3, turn.

2nd row: Skip first tr, dec 1 dc, ch 3, sl St in top of decreased dc, ch 3, sl St in top of starting chain. Break off.

STEM AND CALYX (Make 5)...

With Green make a chain 1 1/2 inches long, tr in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, sl St in tr, eb 4, sl st in same place as tr, ch 4, tr in same place as sl St, ch 3, sl St in tr, ch 4, sl St in same place as tr, sl St in each ch across. Break off. Sew Bud to Calyx.

STAMEN (Make 3) With Yellow, * ch 9, * * (thread over, insert hook in 3rd ch from hook) 3 times; thread over and draw through all loops on hook (dc cluster made), ch 4. Repeat from * * once more, ending with ch 6, sl St in first ch of ch-9. Repeat from * 3 more times. Break off.

Sew Stamens to center of flower. Starch lightly and press.

Sew Flowers, Buds and Stems to garter.

Note: tr is a treble, yo twice, insert hook in stitch, yarn over and draw loop up, yo,(you should have 4 loops on hook) draw through first two loops, yo again, (Now 3 loops on hook) and draw through the next two loops only, yo again, and draw through the last two loops. Now you should have 1 loop on the hook.
